  5. IRAN PRESSTV Scholars protest US war rhetoric – Hawkish Vice President Cheney (L) and President Bush
A group of prominent academics have appealed to the German Federal Government to protest White House’s war rhetoric against Tehran.
Peace researchers and anti-war academics, who attended a symposium in Germany’s Osnabrueck, released a statement, voicing their opposition to President George W. Bush’s remarks that Iran’s nuclear program would lead into World War III.
„We are worried that the daily war rhetoric directed from close allies of the US President could lead into a war,“ the statement said.
The group also called on Bush and his administration to respect the UN nuclear watchdog’s reports on Iran, saying that the agency’s assessment should be the only basis for any judgments on the Iranian nuclear program.

By Raphaël RAMOS, Associate Researcher at ESISC
The meeting in August between French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his American counterpart George W. Bush at the Bush family residence in Kennebunkport illustrated the opening of a new era in relations between Paris and Washington. Under the presidency of Jacques Chirac, such a visit would have been unthinkable. At the start of 2003, the anti-American campaign orchestrated by Chirac and his Minister of Foreign Affairs Dominique de Villepin considerably altered the trans-Atlantic connection…  To read more

  8. OMEDIA – Bush’s Shelved Plan for a Nuclear Attack on Iran
The leak of a classified document has disclosed a directive from 2002 to draw up plans for a nuclear attack on the rogue states – Iran, Iraq and North Korea – included in President Bush’s „Axis of Evil“ speech.
    Ze’ev Yanay (11/12/2007)
The classified document was leaked after reaching the hands of the director of the Federation of American Scientists‘ Nuclear Information Project, Hans Kristensen. The briefing on the US‘ strategic command in 2002, describing plans for a nuclear attack, were to become operative in March 2003. The plans were never implemented, but they are apparently being constantly updated.
The White House’s consent to the attack is recorded in signed authorizations for the response plans for various scenarios. On June 20, 2002 President Bush signed National Security Policy Document 14, which Kristensen describes as the first directive by the White House to the Army to prepare a „nuclear response.“

  9. OMEDIA –  The Theatre of the Revolving Centrifuges
Ahmadinejad‘ s declaration regarding 3,000 centrifuges for uranium enrichment might be a smokescreen for a clandestine plutonium track with North Korea
    Ron Porat (11/13/2007)
On the heels of similar announcements in the past starting in April of this year, Iran’s President Ahmadinejad has issued another declaration, this time claiming Iran has 3,000 centrifuges for uranium enrichment.
American experts estimated in the past that such a quantity of centrifuges, operating in sequence and in a stable fashion, could enrich uranium to a level high enough to produce the amount of fissionable material to arm a nuclear warhead. In an interview on Iranian television Ahmadinejad declared, „We have arrived at the stage of industrial manufacture of nuclear fuel. The train of Iranian progress cannot be halted. The process is irreversible. „

  16. HAARETZGet used to the Iranian bomb – By Aluf Benn
NEW YORK – Israel and the United States are generally considered Siamese twins, with a common mouth and heart. The rhetoric coming out of both Washington and Jerusalem is similar: The leaders speak frequently about „strengthening the moderates“ in the Middle East, as opposed to „the axis of evil.“ They talk about a promise to establish a Palestinian state in the territories and to take a determined stand against the Iranian nuclear bomb.
But listening closely will reveal big differences hiding behind the enthusiastic slogans, both in the way they view the world and in the assessment of the situation by the two countries.
This is the conclusion raised at the „strategic dialogue“ conference which took place last week in New York under the auspices of the Institute for National Security Studies in Israel and the American Council on Foreign Relations. Although all participants presented their personal opinions, one got the impression they were expressing the accepted establishment views of their countries.

Columnist Fares bin Hazam, who specializes in issues relating to Al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, published in the Saudi daily Al-Riyadha personal account by a former Al-Qaeda member of Saudi origin. The article, titled „Iran Recruits Members to Al-Qaeda at Tens of Thousands Dollars a Month,“ describes the assistance the former fighter and his friends received from Iranian authorities after they fled Afghanistan, as well as Iranian attempts to recruit him as an Iranian agent in Saudi Arabia.
The following are excerpts from the account:
„After the disintegration of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan at the end of 2001 as a result of the American attack and the coming to power of other Afghan forces in the country, instructions were received from our leadership to retreat from Kabul in the direction of Kandahar. In the month of Ramadan, we received instructions from our commander to leave for Iran in order to seek refuge there. We arrived in Iran via Pakistan, where we did not stay very long. Our group consisted of about 30 fighters, among them Faisal Al-Dakhil, ‚Amr Al-Shehri [both killed in 2004] and other prominent figures wanted by the Saudi government.

Against the backdrop of the increasing threat of a possible attack on Iran, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Ali J’afari warned the countries in the region against permitting the U.S. to attack Iran from its territory, saying „We will pay you back, and this is only natural.“
In addition, the conservative Iranian daily Kayhan, which is close to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, hinted that Iran had not yet revealed all its nuclear facilities, and maintained that the West does not have all the intelligence information that it needs to completely destroy Iran’s nuclear program.

  23. MEMRIBLOG Iranian Weekly: Doubtful Whether Holocaust Took Place; 3,000 Centrifuges In Operation At Natanz
An article titled „The Holocaust – The Big Lie“ in the Iranian weekly Sobh-e Sadeq, which is the mouthpiece of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei among the IRGC, expresses doubt that the Holocaust ever took place and states that close SS and Gestapo cooperation brought about the emigration of over 6,000 German Jews to Palestine from 1933 through 1941.
In another article, the paper reported that 3,000 centrifuges were in operation at the Natanz facility, and that „nuclear Iran“ was now a fact.
