The guiding principles of the Agence France-Presse (AFP) wire service contain a clear ban on manipulating quotes, and instruct journalists to “report sources accurately, without modifying what was said or selectively using quotes that misrepresent the sense of the statement.”
But these editorial standards did not deter AFP from distorting a quote about Israel in a March 31, 2023 article. Reporting on a missive by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, AFP cited “Gaza’s Islamist rulers” as issuing the following warning:
The seizure of land by the Israeli occupation and the colonial expansion of settlements are doomed to fail.”

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina denied Jewish history claiming on official PA TV that there is “no historical proof [the Jews] had any kind of presence” in the Land of Israel.
“The Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are among the foundational pillars of history, and they are Palestinian holy places, and not Jewish holy places (sic). There is no historical proof – despite all the excavations – that [the Jews] had any kind of presence in this land (sic),” he says, as noted by Palestinian Media Watch.

In Jerusalem, nothing is quite as it seems, and the complex relationships among communities can change rapidly. “State of Jerusalem” is a three-part miniseries that describes relationships among the various communities in Israel’s capital.
In this episode, the second in the series: Where did Jerusalem’s Christians go? Before the birth of Israel, fully a quarter of the city’s population was Christian. Today, they are a small minority.
The series, originally released in Hebrew, was created by Eiv Kristal and Natan Odenheimer and co-produced with Kan (the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation). It was adapted to English by The Times of Israel.

Israeli whiskey producer Milk & Honey (M&H) was awarded the title of "Best Single Malt in the World" by the World Drinks Awards last week.
The judges noted the Israeli liquor's “fruity aromas, with a zest of citrus and white peach and a hint of wood varnish.”

Justice Minister Yariv Levin, the architect of the government’s judicial overhaul plans, conceded that a key piece of his legislation would have led to a situation unacceptable in a democratic country, in which the coalition would exercise control over all three branches of government.
In an interview with Channel 14 two weeks ago that circulated online Monday, Levin said that while many arguments against his proposals were baseless, he accepted a charge critics made against the original judicial appointments bill, which would have handed the coalition an automatic majority on the panel that chooses judges: that such a change would “lead to a situation in which all three branches of government become one branch.”

Nearly two thirds of Jewish students in Ontario feel like they have to hide their opinion about Israel or Israeli policies in public or social settings due to the increasing amount of anti-Zionism and antisemitic remarks, according to a student pulse check survey released on Wednesday by Hillel Ontario.

A Polish priest with a long track record of antisemitic comments has been sentenced to community service after being convicted of insulting Jews and inciting hatred against them, in what his critics say is a landmark case.
Father Michał Woźnicki, a Catholic priest from the city of Poznan, must perform 30 hours of community service a month for the next six months, according to the order handed down by a judge earlier this month.

Kanye West’s music made an appearance at the Super Bowl on Sunday when Rihanna—who has a reputation for being pro-Israel—sang “All of the Lights” during the halftime show. West (who goes by Ye) wrote and performed the original song, which also featured a prominent vocal performance by Rihanna.

(February 13, 2023 / JNS) A Germany-based evangelical organization that commemorates the memory of the Holocaust by organizing marches around the world against antisemitism and in support of Israel is bringing 2,000 Christian supporters, including the descendants of Nazis, to Jerusalem this spring to mark the Jewish state’s 75th Independence Day.

Lubomyr Luciuk, a Royal Military College of Canada political science professor, wrote in the piece, excerpted from his new book written along with Volodymyr Viatrovych, that Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed waging war against Ukraine would lead to the “de-Nazification” of the latter, particularly of those who were “members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) headed by Stepan Bandera.”
(February 13, 2023 / JNS) Authorities in Quebec, Canada, are investigating two fires at an overnight Jewish camp in the village of Quyon.
A neighbor reported a fire at Camp B’nai Brith of Ottawa at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, reports CBC News. As firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, another fire broke out at a second building in the same camp. Police are investigating both fires as “suspicious.”

Down Under, antisemitism is doubling down.
