Es ist nicht so, als wäre ich nicht gewarnt worden. "Was willst du denn bei den Antisemiten?", fragte mich ein Freund vor gut drei Jahren, als ich erzählte, dass ich anfangen würde, bei Amnesty International (AI) zu arbeiten. Wir liefen durch Frankfurt am Main. Seine Bemerkung, dass Amnesty antisemitisch sei, fiel so selbstverständlich, als würde er mir erklären, dass man, um von Bornheim zum Hauptbahnhof zu gelangen, am besten mit der U4 fährt.

There is no end to the anti-Semitic images and scandals in connection with the Documenta15.
Despite all the warnings ahead of time, everything was wrong with this Documenta from the beginning to end: the scandal surrounding the curators and the large banner called "People's Justice" by the Indonesian artists' collective Taring Padi; the hired “experts” with connections and favoritism for BDS and the Hezbollah; now the caricature cartoons in the "Archives of Women's Struggle in Algeria”, which clearly uses anti-Jewish clichés; not to mention the pictures by the Palestinian artists' collective "The Question of Funding".
Israeli artists were not even invited, which is a scandal in itself. And the resignation by the general director, which took far too long and way too much back and forth, has been absolutely insufficient; and the appointment of a new (interim) director, who immediately stated that there would be no more investigations into antisemitic imagery, only adds to the mountain of irreparable damage.
There has been no interest in coming to terms with the antisemitic scandals surrounding the Documenta15. And politics has failed every step of the way.
Enough is enough! We demand the immediate closure of Documenta15.

GENF (inn) – Die „UN-Kommission für die besetzten palästinensischen Gebiete, einschließlich Ostjerusalem, und Israel“ (COI) hat Anfang Juni ihren ersten Bericht für die UN-Generalversammlung vorgelegt. Die COI wurde im vergangenen Jahr gegründet und soll künftig halbjährlich über die Situation in Israel und den palästinensischen Gebieten berichten.

Die New Yorker Philosophin Linda Martín Alcoff soll ab dem 29. Juni die »Adorno-Vorlesungen« am traditionsreichen Institut für Sozialforschung (IfS) an der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main halten. Nun steht gegen sie der Vorwurf der Nähe zur antisemitischen BDS-Bewegung im Raum.
In einem offenen Brief fordern das Junge Forum der DIG Frankfurt, der Bundesvorstand des Jungen Forums sowie der Verband Jüdischer Studierender Hessen (VJSH): »Kein Israelboykott im Namen Adornos!« Linda Martín Alcoff vertrete israelfeindliche Positionen, wird in dem Brief behauptet. Als Beleg werden zwei Aufrufe, die Alcoff in der Vergangenheit unterzeichnet beziehungsweise mitverfasst hat, angeführt....

Und wieder einmal sollte darauf hingewiesen, dass die IFS übrigens auch zu 100% aus Öffentlichen Geldern finanziert wird - durch das Land Hessen und die Stadt Frankfurt - siehe https://www.ifs.uni-frankfurt.de/institut.html#close-nav!
Noch immer kommt es auch im Saarland häufig zu antisemitischen Vorfällen verschiedenster Art. Diese müssen nicht gleich angezeigt werden. Eine Meldung bei RIAS Saarland kann bereits helfen, das Problem sichtbar zu machen und anzugehen:

I recently went on a Taglit-Birthright trip to Israel, and since that time, I have been the victim of a harassment and defamation campaign both online and offline. I know that this is sadly an all too common an occurrence, and that across the country, students who dare to express a pro-Israel point of view or visit the Holy Land are ostracized on campus. But I have decided to fight back, because spreading lies and hate to score political points is simply unacceptable.

In a piece titled, Indonesian artists’ ‘antisemitic’ work removed from German show after upsetting Israel, The Independent reports: “The work of an Indonesian art collective has been taken down from a major art show in Germany after it was condemned for bearing ‘antisemitic’ elements.”
Notice the use of quotes, both in the headline and opening paragraph of the piece. While such ‘scare quotes’ can be used to emphasize a point, a more common application of this semantic device is to imply skepticism or disagreement with the word that’s in quotation marks.
