  1. honestlyconcerned Iranischer Staatsterrorismus

  2. WJC Olmert wants Europe to stop doing business with Iran
Israel’s prime minister Ehud Olmert has asked European Union member states to discourage any contact with Iranian businesses in order to weaken the current Iranian regime. Economic sanctions could be efficient if they were strongly implemented by the international community, Olmert told a delegation of European Friends of Israel (EFI) in Jerusalem. The group, led by Belgian member of the European Parliament Férdérique Ries, is currently on a four-day visit to Israel.
Olmert told the delegation, which comprises legislators from eleven European countries: „We must think about the recent riots in Iran provoked by the lack of gas in the country. EU countries must discourage any contact with Iranian business in order to weaken the regime. Europe is of great importance in the struggle against a nuclear Iran. The sanctions on Iran are doing their part but it is possible to impose other sanctions, not just economic, such as the denial of entry visas to Iranian passport holders.“

  3. IBDEDITORIALS Axis Of (New) Evil
By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, July 02, 2007 4:30 PM PT
War On Terror: We have a new „axis“ to worry about — the „Axis of Unity“ just formed by Iran and Venezuela. Time to pay attention: Iran is openly fighting us in the Mideast. Now it’s getting ready to fight us here, too.
We’ve talked a great deal about Iran’s threat. Simply put, we think Iran is at war with us, and has been since its revolution in 1979. We just haven’t noticed.
Recent events only bolster our conviction. Most alarmingly, Iran’s mullahs have become so emboldened by our inaction they’re going from making mere threats to actively killing our soldiers in Iraq. So far, we’ve done little about it.

  6. MEMRIBLOG MEMRI Report on Doctrine of Mahdism Presented at Conference in Iran
On June 12-13, 2007, a seminar was held in the city of Gachsaran in Western Iran on the topic of „Studies in Aspects of the Psychological War against the Ahmadinejad Government,“ with the participation of Iranian professors, researchers, and senior experts.
The Iranian news agency ILNA reported that the wife of Iran’s Minister of Justice Ghulam Hossein Elham, Fatima Rajabi – who is close to the conservative Ansar Hezbullah faction – said at the seminar that the U.S. research institute, MEMRI, had conducted a study of the doctrine of Mahdism in the thought of Ayatollah Mesbah-e Yazdi and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and that the study had noted that this doctrine is the most important element for the West to attack.
It should be noted that MEMRI’s Inquiry and Analysis No. 357, „The Doctrine of Mahdism in the Ideological and Political Philosophy of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Mesbah-e Yazdi,“ was posted in Farsi translation on June 18, 2007 on the website of the Cultural Division of the Islamic Students‘ Union in Iran.

  7. MEMRIBLOG – Iranian Reformist Website Nixes Optimism Of Supreme Leader Khameini
A critical op-ed posted on the reformist Iranian website Rooz rejected statements by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in which he claimed that Iran’s situation today was „rare and extraordinary. „
The op-ed presented evidence to the contrary, mentioning the newly instated gasoline rationing, the closure of the reformist newspaper Ham-Mihan (see
„Iranian Authorities Shut Down Second Reformist Paper“); the risk of closure of the reformist Iranian daily Etamad-e Meli; the acknowledgement by a senior Hizbullah official captured by U.S. troops in Iraq of receiving economic and military aid from Iran; and the increasing appearance of understanding between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President George W. Bush.
Iranian dissident journalist Ahmad Zeidabadi referred to the regime’s ban on expression of opinions on subjects such as the nuclear crisis, a possible U.S. attack, gasoline rationing, and inflation, claiming that today it was hard to write on any matter of importance without risking arrest and the closure of the newspaper.

  8. MEMRIBLOG – Venezuela To Sell Gasoline To Iran
Venezuela’s energy minister has told the Iranian daily Shargh that his country has agreed to sell gasoline to Iran.
The news comes a week after Iran imposed its gasoline-rationing program. The rationing is part of a government attempt to reduce the some $10 billion [the actual figure is about $5 billion] that it spends annually on imported fuel that it sells to Iranian consumers at a heavily subsidized price.
Despite its huge oil reserves, Iran imports 40% of its gasoline needs because of its lack of domestic refining capacity.

An Iranian court has sentenced women’s rights activist Delaram ‚Ali to two years in prison, 10 months on probation, and 10 lashes.
‚Ali, an activist for the Iranian campaign „Million Signatures to Change Discriminatory Laws“ (see
„Six Women’s Activists Released On Bail; 27 More Still Being Held“ ) was charged with violating public order and spreading propaganda against the regime, after she participated in a women’s demonstration in June 2006.
Another activist, Mahboubeh Abassghali, editor of the women’s quarterly Farzana, said that following repression by the Iranian regime, most of the offices of the women’s movement offices had been shut down.

Following the closure by Iranian authorities of the reformist daily Mosharekat, Iran’s prosecutor-general Saeed Mortazavi has ordered the closure of another reformist daily, Ham-Mihan.
Ham-Mihan had put out 42 issues since renewing publication following a previous closure order.
