    2. JNEWSWIRE As war clouds swirl, Iran’s ‚Hitler‘ jets to Damascus for ’sensitive talks‘
      By Stan Goodenough
Iranian megalomaniac Mahmoud Ahmadinejad flew to Syria at the top of a high-level delegation on a visit made necessary by the „extremely sensitive“ regional situation, according to the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
His trip came as war drums continued to sound throughout the Middle East, warning of a potential conflagration between Syria and Israel.
IRNA quoted the head of the Syrian Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Studies Center as saying Monday that „the ‚extremely sensitive‘ regional status“ made Ahmadinejad‘ s visit to Damascus „quite necessary.“
Tehran is bracing for a US or possibly Israeli attack on its nuclear program, and is reported to have entered into a pact with Damascus whereby Syria would hit back at Israel in the event of such a strike.

  2. JCPA Iran’s Renewed Threats to Take Over the Arab Gulf States  Lt. Col. (res.) Jonathan Dahoah-Halevi
Recent Iranian implied threats to „liberate“ some of the Gulf states, and an Iranian editorial calling Bahrain a district of Iran, have caused great consternation in the Gulf states. In Bahrain there have been demonstrations at the Iranian embassy, and an official protest was submitted to Tehran. An additional Iranian article by the same author again disparaged the Gulf states and made further territorial threats.
Iran has territorial ambitions in the Persian Gulf and does not hide them. In its view, every region of the Gulf is essentially Persian and not Arab; moreover, a large Shiite population lives in the Gulf.
The tireless Iranian endeavor to build a large, powerful military and develop a civilian and military nuclear capability is a central part of a strategy aimed at transforming Iran from a regional power to a global one that can contend with the United States and the West. The closer Iran gets to nuclearization, the bolder it is likely to be toward the West and its neighbors.
Iran’s prophetic vision is already being translated into practice in the propagation of the Shiite faith in many Muslim countries including Pakistan, India (Kashmir), Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, and others. Senior Sunni theorists keep warning of the Shiite „missionary“ campaign that is spreading in the Arab world.
The Sunni world has tended to support Iran in its confrontation with the United States over the issue of nuclear development. Now that the situation is getting critical, there is a basis for strategic cooperation between the United States and the Sunni world aimed at stopping Iran.
In the eyes of the Arab states, the threat to wipe the Sunni world from the map is graver than the Iranian promise to annihilate Israel. Paradoxically, Israel and the Arab world are in the same boat, with similar interests; moreover, it is in fact Israel that can save the day for the Arabs.

Argentinean president Néstor Kirchner attended as a private citizen, alongside his wife Cristina (who will run for the presidency in the fall to succeed her husband), vice president Daniel Scioli and several government ministers. AMIA president Luis Grynwald declared that those responsible for the worst terrorist attack in the country were Iran – as intellectual author -, Hezbollah – as executor -, and the former president of Argentina, Carlos Menem – as the protector of the perpetrators. Grynwald called on Kirchner’s government to break off diplomatic relations with Iran. He also exhorted the president to label Hezbollah a terrorist organization and urged the Argentinean government to support international actions to eradicate it and other international terrorist institutions.

  12. PINKNEWSMoscow police protect gay protest against Iranian hangings

More than twenty Russian activists protested outside the Iranian embassy in Moscow today, the second anniversary of the execution of two gay teenagers in Iran.
A group of nationalists and religious activists who turned up to counter-demonstrate were stopped by police and dispersed.
While this was seen as a positive step after the bloody police actions at a gay Pride demonstration earlier this year, it emerged that the application for the Iran protest did not mention gay rights.
Moscow Pride organiser Nikolai Baev said:

„It seems that even homophobic activists start to understand that gays and lesbians may rally and protest in Moscow absolutely free, and walk on streets with their flags and slogans.
„This is also a clear result of our policy that we started with the gay Pride movement in Russia.“
Protesters carried placards carrying the slogans „Iran! Hands Off Gays!“ and „No Death Penalty!“
