  2. jpost staff and ap, THE JERUSALEM POST Iran develops missile which can penetrate Merkava armor
Iran has developed a missile which can penetrate the armor of an Israeli-made Merkava tank and a US-made Abrams tank, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Yayha Rahim Safavi said on Wednesday.
In addition, Safavi said that Iran now possesses land-to-sea missiles which can hit any ship in the Persian Gulf. He also claimed that the Iranian-made Shihab-3 missile, which has range of 2,000 km, has recently been equipped with a remote guidance system allowing Iran to control its movements even after the missile has been launched.
Meanwhile, an official in the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned Tuesday’s report that the United States is moving toward blacklisting Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as a „terrorist“ organization, calling it „propaganda. „
According a US official, a decision has been made in principle to name elements of the corps a „specially designated global terrorist“ group, but internal discussions continue over whether it should cover the entire unit or only its main military wing, the Al-Quds force. The move would subject at least part of the entity to financial sanctions.

We all know the adage „good news is no news“. However, one man’s bad news could be another’s good news. In that context, one could regard reporting from Iran as a case in point.
As far as the Islamic Republic’s authorities are concerned, last Thursday was a day of bad news. For it was marked by demonstrations throughout the country in support of jailed free trade unionist leaders and labour activists.
In Tehran, hundreds gathered near the home of Mansour Osanloo, the imprisoned leader of the capital’s transport workers with a simple message: We are not afraid!

In an article, the Iranian website Baztab, which is identified with Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezai, warns against Iranian complacency vis-à-vis a possible U.S. attack on the country, calling such complacency the deadliest drug.
The website stated that the background to this complacency was the U.S.’s entanglement in Iraq and its fear of an increase in oil prices as a result of the sanctions on Iran, and went on to point out that Iran’s oil weapon was weak because of the country’s obsolete oil infrastructure – in which production capability drops by 5%-10% every year.
