  1. USATODAY Officials: Grim intelligence report on Iran coming
WASHINGTON (AP) — A draft intelligence report portrays a bleak political situation in Iran, anticipating little progress in getting Tehran to halt its nuclear program or stop supporting militant groups in the region, U.S. officials said Thursday.
The latest in a series of reports from the nation’s 16 intelligence agencies, the new National Intelligence Estimate on Iran is nearly complete and could be shared with President Bush and other policymakers within weeks, said officials familiar with the report, who spoke on condition of anonymity because it has not been released. The report is expected to be completed as soon as next week, one official said.
    RELATED: Intel questions Iraq’s progress
It is one of three reports the intelligence community is wrapping up on the Persian Gulf. Another looks at Iran’s nuclear program. And an update on the situation in Iraq is to be released Thursday.
The report on Iran’s political situation looks at issues ranging from the economy to its weapons programs, the officials said.

  8. NEUEOZ Weiche Worte vom Scharfmacher – Von Ralf Döring
Teheran.

In an article, the Iranian weekly Sobh-e Sadeq, the mouthpiece of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei circulated among the Revolutionary Guards, has stated that Hizbullah sees itself as part of an Islamic movement striving towards Islamic rule of the world – not just as a Lebanese organization.
It also said that Hizbullah was obeying, politically and religiously, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini, and now his heir Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khameini, and that therefore Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah kisses the hand of Khamenei and presents himself to him as his soldier.
In another article, the weekly stated that Iran’s significant progress in ballistic missile technology will force its enemies to be more cautious in their contacts with it and will reduce the risk to which Iran is exposed.

At an August 28 press conference, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the August 16 Shanghai Alliance conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Putin had told him that the reactor at Bushehr would be completed on schedule.
However, according to Iranian media reports, the two never met during the conference.
Following the conference, Ahmadinejad had been criticized by the reformist daily Aftab-e Yazd for missing an opportunity to influence Russia’s position in advance of the U.N. Security Council discussion of Iran’s nuclear dossier in early September.
In contrast, an article on the Iranian website Farda had praised Ahmadinejad for not meeting with Putin, calling this symbolic of the preservation of Iran’s honor and independence, and saying that Iran should continue to boycott Russia in international forums until the desired result is achieved – that is, until Russia stops its hypocrisy towards Iran.

Regarding recent anti-Iran statements by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Ahmadinejad said, „He took office recently and wants to say something to attract attention of others.
