Als Russlands Präsident Wladimir Putin in Teheran den iranischen Präsidenten Mahmud Ahmadinedschad begrüßte, war das kein einfacher Handschlag. Die beiden Männer fielen einander in die Arme, lachten. Nur geküsst haben sie sich nicht.
Eine Nähe, die frösteln lässt.
Putin ist seit Josef Stalin der erste Staatschef aus Moskau, der den Iran besucht. Abermals stellte er sich hinter den Irren von Teheran, verteidigte dessen Atomprogramm: „Wir sollten nicht einmal daran denken, dass in dieser Region Gewalt eingesetzt wird“, mahnte Putin in einer Rede. Jede Nation habe das Recht, ohne Einschränkungen ein friedliches Atomprogramm zu betreiben, sagte er vor seinen Gesprächen mit Ahmadinedschad und dem Geistlichen Oberhaupt der Islamischen Republik, Ajatollah Ali Chamenei.
Nachfolger?Putin weiß wie kein zweiter, welcher Indikator Körpersprache ist, was Körpersprache signalisiert. Fernsehzuseher fällen zum Beispiel allein auf Grund von Bildern in Sekundenschnelle ihr Urteil. Putin wollte mit dieser Umarmung wohl sagen: -

A knowledgeable Iranian source has told the independent Iranian website Fararo that during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Tehran, agreement was reached on the upcoming activation of the Bushehr nuclear reactor, and that the news had not been released for fear of reactions by the West.
The source said that it was highly reasonable that the „joyous and gratifying“ news that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini had promised to deliver on October 15 concerned Russia’s agreement to send the first shipment of nuclear fuel soon, but that Russia had asked for no public announcements on the matter.
The source added that the joint Russian-Iranian professional committee had reached agreement on the activation of the Bushehr reactor.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, said Thursday that direct dialogue was a better way of easing the diplomatic crisis over Iran’s nuclear ambitions than the threat of military force or sanctions.
Putin, speaking at an annual question-and- answer session, brushed aside a reported plot to kill him on a visit to Tehran last week.
„Direct dialogue with the leaders of states around which certain problems accumulate is always more productive and is the shortest path to success, rather than a policy of threats, sanctions, and all the more so resolution by using force,“ he said.

Israel is set to launch a new diplomatic effort to lobby United Nations Security Council members for tougher sanctions on Iran.
As part of the effort, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will depart Thursday for a surprise visit to Moscow for talks with President Vladimir Putin.
On Sunday, Olmert is to travel to Paris, where he will talk with President Nicolas Sarkozy about ways to halt the Iranian nuclear program. Olmert will continue to London on Tuesday and for talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Wednesday called for a new Security Council resolution aimed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. She is planning a lightning visit to China – which objects to expanding the sanctions against Iran – to explain Israel’s position on the issue.

The prime minister will enter the Kremlin Thursday with an unequivocal message to the Russian President: Under circumstances whereby Iran possesses a nuclear weapon, while Russia supplies Syria with advanced weaponry, Israel will be forced to weigh its options vis-à-vis such threats.
The issues of key concern to the prime minister that are expected to be raised at the meeting in Moscow, primarily pertain to Russia’s involvement in building Iran’s nuclear project. Senior Russian officials are trying to convince their Israeli counterparts that the Iranian nuclear project is under tight Russian control. Damit half er – gegen seinen Willen – Hitler dabei, seine wahren Absichten zu verschleiern – Europa zu unterjochen und es für 1000 Jahre unter deutsche Herrschaft zu stellen, Konzentrations- und Vernichtungslager zu errichten und den Europäern, Russen und vor allem den Juden zu schaden. Even though Russian President Vladimir Putin was not convinced of Iran’s intentions, any person could realize that no country would invest the sums needed to build long range ballistic missiles without the ability of mounting nuclear warheads on them, President Shimon Peres said Thursday.
The president was speaking with the Israeli-Palestinian Forum of Bereaved Families.
„Iran,“ Peres said, „is an imperialist state and it is no secret that they want to take over the Muslim world, the Middle East and anywhere else they can reach.“
The president also rejected rumors about his health. Peres said he was feeling well and added that his doctors said he was as fit as a young person.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, addressing the Qods Day (Jerusalem Day) celebration, which was commemorated on October 5 in Iran, suggested the settlement of Israeli Jews in big lands like Alaska or Canada. Evidently, the more the Iranian regime is confronted with international pressure over its nuclear program or meddling in Iraqi affairs, the more inflammatory its anti-Israeli rhetoric becomes.
Tehran’s theocratic dictators have several motives for their persistent threats against Israel, least of which is concern for Palestinians. As part of their fundamentalist expansionist ideology, the Iranian regime wishes to present itself as the leader of the Islamic world and Middle East. Therefore, clerics capitalize on regional, nationalistic, and religious sentiments. Iran also uses Israel alongside the United States as a scarecrow to justify its ill intentions behind meddling in neighboring countries. Internally, Iran uses Israel and the US as a decoy to distract attention from the widespread poverty and suppression, while expending huge sums for armed forces to maintain its grip on dictatorship.
