    NEWSDAY.COM – State of New Jersey bans investments in companies that do business in Iran
    TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey announced Friday it will prohibit state pension money from being invested in companies that do business in Iran.
    Most American companies are already barred from doing business in the country, but Democratic Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed a measure restricting the state from buying stock in international companies that do business with Iran. Florida and California have similar laws.

    Am 14. März 2008 sollen in Iran „Wahlen“ des islamistischen „Parlaments“ stattfinden, dabei ist das Kalifat das Staatsmodell für die „Islamische Republik Iran“. Die innerislamistischen Diskussionen haben begonnen. Konflikte sind vorprogrammiert, denn ob Reformkräfte zu den Wahlen zugelassen werden, ist ungewiss.
    Am 31. Dezember 2007 zitierte Farsnews den „großen Führer der islamischen Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.“ Er sagte, es sei wichtig, dass das iranische Volk weiß, dass die „Wahlen eine göttliche Prüfung“ seien. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei erläuterte die islamische Herrschaft mit Blick auf die Urgeschichte des Islam: „Die Ernennung der Imame durch den Propheten des Islam, kommt in Wirklich ihrer Wahl durch den erhabenen Gott gleich.“ Dies zeige, dass „aus der Sicht des Islam, die islamische Herrschaft im Sinne der Imamat ist und beschränkt sich daher nicht auf die bloße Verwaltung der Bevölkerung.“
    Damit gibt Khamenei die Staatsdoktrin des Iran wieder, so wie diese von Ayatollah Khomeini deklariert wurde. Demnach steht die Herrschaft des Klerus heute in der Tradition des Kalifats. Der Klerus sei legitimiert zu herrschen, bis der 12. Imam, der im 10. Jahrhundert verschwand, wieder erscheine.

    TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has called on Iranians to maintain their self-confidence to defuse propaganda of the enemies.
    Addressing an assembly of people in the central city of Yazd on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the courageous contribution of the Muslim people of Yazd in defending the very identity of the Islamic Revolution, a Press TV report said.
    He asserted that the Iranian nation needs to maintain its self-confidence in order to secure its ideals, stressing that it has achieved great progress through this self-confidence.
    „For many decades, our enemies tried to shred our historic identity and destroy us and confound us as a nation with no identity,“ said the Leader, calling on the nation to preserve the Islamic values that have been subject to attacks by enemies.

The 2005 ‎presidential election brought the Liberation Front closer to reformist parties such as the ‎Participation Front. We have spoken to Dr. Yazdi about the upcoming Majlis elections ‎and issues facing the nation. Below is an excerpt of this interview. ‎
    Rooz (R): The hot political topic in Iran right now is the Eight Majlis elections. It seems ‎as if the discussion has begun earlier this year compared to previous ones. What is the ‎reason for this in your opinion?

      Das geistige Oberhaupt des Iran hat sich grundsätzlich zur Wiederaufnahme von Beziehungen zu den USA bereit erklärt. „Ich wäre der Erste, der diese Beziehungen unterstützt“, sagte Ayatollah Ali Chamenei im staatlichen Rundfunk.
      Allerdings müsse das dem islamischen Staat nutzen. Derzeit würde eine Öffnung dem Iran schaden und komme daher nicht infrage. Damit bezieht Chamenei vor den Parlamentswahlen am 14. Seit Wochen wird Kritik an Ahmadinedschad laut – nicht nur vonseiten der Reformer, sondern auch in den Reihen der Konservativen.

       Chamenei hatte Ahmadinedschad lange unwidersprochen gewähren lassen, ihn im vergangenen Jahr aber offen oder durch ihm unterstellte Medien kritisiert. Im Herbst sagte er, er müsse sich nicht mit allem einverstanden erklären, was Ahmadinedschad tue. Trotz der Präsenz des Präsidenten in außenpolitischen Fragen wie etwa in dem Streit um das iranische Atomprogramm ist es Chamenei, der letztendlich die außenpolitische Richtung vorgibt.

    In today’s Friday sermon, Tehran Interim Friday Prayer Leader Ayatollah Emami Kashani warned a large crowd of worshippers that Muslims must always beware of their enemies‘ plots, and reminded them that „the arrogant powers“ see disagreements among Islamic communities as a „ray of hope“ for committing more crimes in Islamic countries. He said, „The emergence of internal crises and disputes within Islamic societies is quite perilous, since the oppressor world will take full disadvantage of them.“
    Kashani also told worshipers not to waste the country’s heavily subsidized energy supplies, and added that the Iranian government and parliament should devise more plans and make the needed arrangements to boost Iran’s energy exports.
    Referring to the upcoming eighth Majlis (parliamentary) elections, he said, „Candidates should nominate themselves to carry out their responsibility, and the nation should elect them responsibly,“ adding that „candidates must work for the sake of God.“ He said, „The eighth parliament membership hopefuls should enter the election campaign scene for God’s sake and aimed at serving God’s servants as a duty.“
    He also referred to the upcoming Muharram month of mourning, and underlined that the mourning must be performed in a manner that will introduce to the whole world the philosophy of mourning for the one (i.e. Imam Hussein) who sacrificed himself and all he owned.
