    Claus Peymann hatte sich alles so schön vorgestellt. Noch schnell mit dem Berliner Ensemble die Premiere von Shakespeares Richard III. aufgeführt, und dann nichts wie ab nach Teheran mit der Truppe, ins Land der Mullahs, zum „wichtigsten Gastspiel unseres Theaters in den letzten Jahren“. Doch ungeteilten Beifall gibt es für diese Exkursion dummerweise nicht: Ein Komitee gegen deutsche Kultur im Iran und anderswo hatte für vergangenen Freitag zu einer Protestkundgebung aufgerufen, die unmittelbar vor dem Beginn des Shakespeare-Stücks stattfinden sollte. Denn: „Peymann verweigert sich der Solidarisierung mit den von Folter, Verfolgung und Ermordung bedrohten unangepassten Frauen, Homosexuellen und allen, die sich nicht unterwerfen wollen. Er kolla­boriert mit einem Regime, das Juden vernichten will und zum Zweck der nachholenden Perfektionierung von Auschwitz an Atom­bomben arbeitet. […] Die Ideologie des Kulturaustauschs auf der Grundlage der islamischen Zensur ist der freiwillige Verrat an der Aufklärung. Es geht nicht um Kunst, es geht um Gewalt, die umso reibungsloser funktionieren kann, wenn in Teheran die sorgsam drapierte Theaterkulisse die Realität verdeckt und in Berlin der Kunstgenuss davon ungestört bleibt.“
    Den Vorwurf der Kollaboration mit dem Mullah-Regime     konnte Peymann jedoch einfach nicht verstehen: „Wir werden in Teheran für ein neugieriges, intelligentes, großstädtisches Publikum unsere Aufführungen spielen“, versicherte er treuherzig, und: 

    1. TAGESSPIEGEL – Polizeischutz für Peymann/ Linke protestieren bei Theaterpremiere
      Die Premiere des Theaterstücks „Richard III“ von William Shakespeare am Berliner Ensemble fand gestern Abend unter Polizeischutz statt. Für 18.30 Uhr hatten linke Gruppen zu einer Demonstration vor dem Theater am Bertolt- Brecht-Platz in Mitte aufgerufen – die Kundgebung war unter dem Motto „Protest gegen Claus Peymanns Kollaboration mit dem antisemitischen Terrorregime im Iran“ angemeldet. Allerdings folgten nur etwa 30 Personen dem Aufruf, die Lage blieb friedlich.
      Die Initiatoren der Demo warfen dem Intendanten des Theaters vor, mit einem für nächste Woche geplanten Gastspiel im Iran ein Terrorregime zu hofieren. In einer Mitteilung hieß es: „Peymann kollaboriert mit einem Regime, das Juden vernichten will und an der Atombombe arbeitet.“ Peymann wiederum ließ ausrichten, das Gastspiel vom 12. bis 14. Februar sei „das wichtigste unseres Theaters in den letzten Jahren“. Das Ensemble werde dort bei einem Festival das Stück „Mutter Courage“ von Brecht aufführen. „Die Pressemitteilung der Veranstalter der Demonstration ist allerdings ein besonders übles Machwerk der Unterstellungen und Lügen“, sagte Peymann. In dem Text wurde etwa behauptet, das Theater werde künftig keine Homosexuellen und unverschleierte Frauen mehr beschäftigen. Dies war allerdings als Satire kenntlich gemacht. 

       

    2. BERLINONLINE – Mit dem Teufel im Bund? – Ein Komitee protestiert gegen den Auftritt des Berliner Ensembles im Iran und will den totalen Boykott des Regimes – Martina Doering
      Das Berliner Ensemble wird zu einem Gastspiel nach Iran reisen und beim Fadjr-Festival in Teheran Bertolt Brechts Anti-Kriegsstück Mutter Courage aufführen. Es musste, um fahren zu können, einige Hürden nehmen, die das iranischen Kulturministeriums und sonstige Revolutionswächter den Organisatoren und Gästen in den Weg legte. Westliche Kultur ist den Hardlinern im Iran suspekt. Ihnen eilt jetzt eine Initiative zu Hilfe. Ein sogenanntes „Komitee gegen deutsche Kultur im Iran und anderswo“ hat am Freitag vor dem BE gegen das Gastspiel demonstriert. 30 bis 50 Protestierende waren mit Flugblättern und Transparenten gekommen und forderten Peymann auf, seine Reisepläne aufzugeben. Der stellte sich den Protestierenden, beklagte sich über das höhnische Gelächter, mit dem man ihn immer wieder unterbrach und blieb ansonsten ziemlich ruhig.       

       

    3. WIENER – Mutter Courage bei Mullahs – Von Stefan Beig
       Claus Peymann residiert in Teheran.
       Kritik erntet er dafür in Berlin.
      Berlin. Dass das Berliner Ensemble bei einem Gastspiel von 12. bis 14. Februar zur Abwechslung einmal wieder Bertolt Brecht spielt, verwundert eigentlich niemanden. Unter der Regie Claus Peymanns wird „Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder“ gezeigt. Ungewöhnlich ist diesmal nur der Aufführungsort: Teheran.
      Der Protest ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Peymann unterstütze ein totalitäres und antisemitisches Regime, erklärte ein „Komitee gegen deutsche Kultur im Iran“, dem auch oppositionelle Exil-Iraner angehören. Er verweigere sich „der Solidarisierung mit den von Folter, Verfolgung und Ermordung bedrohten unangepassten Frauen, Homosexuellen und allen, die sich nicht unterwerfen wollen.“

      Peymann entgegnete, die Teheran-Reise sei das „wichtigste Gastspiel unseres Theaters in den letzten Jahren“. Sie sei keine Demonstration für oder gegen ein politisches System. „In einem vom Krieg bedrohten Land ein Anti-Kriegsstück zu spielen, hat eine besondere Bedeutung“.

      Den Vorwurf der Kollaboration mit dem Mullah-Regime konnte Peymann jedoch einfach nicht verstehen: „Wir werden in Teheran für ein neugieriges, intelligentes, großstädtisches Publikum unsere Aufführungen spielen“, versicherte er treuherzig, und: „Wir werden dort so wenig für die Herrschenden und Staatsführer spielen, wie wir hier in unserem Theater am Schiffbauerdamm für Angela Merkel, Gerhard Schröder oder Klaus Wowereit Theater spielen.“ Ist ja auch alles irgendwo dasselbe, folgt man dem Intendanten des Berliner Ensembles. Und überhaupt gehe es ihm und den Seinen doch bloß um Kulturbereicherung: „Unser Gastspiel ist nicht der Ausdruck einer Solidarität mit der vorherrschenden politischen Meinung des Iran, […] und es ist schon gar nicht eine Demonstration für oder gegen ein politisches System.“ Nein, man mag sich nicht einmischen, wenn Frauen wegen Verstößen gegen die islamischen Bekleidungsvorschriften öffentlich verprügelt und eingesperrt, „Ehebrecher“ gesteinigt und Homosexuelle hingerichtet werden. Und man hält ebenfalls den Mund, wenn der Präsident des Iran ankündigt, …

    Ist der Holocaust ein Märchen?
    Qolamresa Rafatnejad beshäftigt sich in einem weiteren Kapitel mit dem „Leben von Adolf Hitler und wie das nationalsozialistische Deutschland die Juden behandelte.“ Er argumentiert, wenn der Holocaust eine wahre Geschichte sei, sei Hitler dafür verantwortlich gewesen und er müsste demzufolge ein unversöhnlicher Antisemit gewesen sein. Aber Rafatnejad ist sich nicht sicher, ob Hitler wirklich ein Antisemit war. Er nimmt an, dass Hitler durchaus Beziehungen zu Juden hatte. Wenn dies der Fall sei, würde der Beweis vorliegen, dass ein Großteil der herrschenden Thesen über den Holocaust nicht wahr sein. Und wenn bewiesen werde, dass Hitler sogar mit den Juden zusammengearbeitet habe, dann sei der Holocaust eindeutig als „Märchen“ zu bezeichnen.

    Bei den achten Wahlen zum iranischen Pseudoparlament, Madschless, wurden die meisten Reformislamisten disqualifiziert. Sogar zwanzig Mitglieder des gegenwärtig noch arbeitenden Madschless dürfen nicht mehr kandidieren.
    Vorweg: Im Iran wählt das Volk nicht seine Abgeordneten, sondern die vom Wächterrat als absolut loyal eingestuften Kandidaten. Die Souveränität des Volkes wurde vor 29 Jahren vollends aufgehoben. Der Staatsklerus instrumentalisiert das Pseudo-Parlament für sein Ziel der Alleinherrschaft.
    Von den gegenwärtig 288 Mitgliedern des islamistischen „Parlaments“, haben sich rund 19 Mitglieder des gegenwärtigen siebten Madschless nicht mehr um eine neue Kandidatur beworben. Rund 60 gegenwärtige Mitglieder des Madschless wurden im Vorfeld der Entscheidung des Wächterrates von vorgeschalteten Kontrollorganen disqualifiziert. Sie beschwerten sich beim Wächterrat. 20 der vorab disqualifizierten Parlamentsmitglieder wurden endgültig vom Wächterrat abgelehnt. Über die weiteren 40 Mitglieder entscheidet der Wächterrat in einer weiteren Runde.

    It was a cold, moonless night in 1990 when Danni, a 15-year-old Jewish boy, began his journey from Tehran to Jerusalem. Along with a group of 14 other Jews, Danni put his faith in the hands of professional smugglers, said a quick goodbye to his parents, and crossed the deserts of Afghanistan and Pakistan on his way to Israel.
    In 2001, 18 year-old Linda also left her family in Tehran. Linda and Danni, today a married couple, reside in Jerusalem and can offer us a unique perspective on the life of the Jewish community in Iran. They also share their feelings with us regarding Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad’s threats to wipe their new homeland – Israel – off the map.
    Ahmadi Nejad’s threats were preceded by those of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah ‚Ali Khamanai, who in December 2000 said that „Iran’s stance has always been clear on this ugly phenomenon [Israel]. We have repeatedly said that this cancerous tumor of a state should be removed from the region.“ Back then however, the Iranian nuclear program was still in its early stages and the threat seemed less sinister.

    In his annual speech marking the 29th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today told a massive Tehran gathering that the great powers were damaging their own prestige with their continued anti-Iran provocations.
    He added that the perseverance of the Iranian nation and of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei have made the country victorious in the issue of the nuclear program.
    He added, „Unfortunately, instead of apologizing to the great Iranian nation, some powers are complaining against non-observation of the UN Security Council’s former decisions. I tell them not to insist on your mistakes. They should know that the Iranian nation will never give up its nuclear rights.“
    He said the West should find a way to make good on its past mistakes, and reiterated, „We have repeatedly announced that nuclear activities of the Iranian nation are within framework of laws and regulations. I recommend them (westerners) to make recourse to justice and the law.“
    Ahmadinejad also lashed out at his domestic critics, whom he accused of pursuing a „vendetta“ and betraying the country over the nuclear issue.
    Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of the capital Tehran and millions did so in the provinces, to renew their allegiance to the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and to show their solidarity with the government.
    In Tehran, the people ventured out into the cold weather chanting slogans such as „Death to America,“ „Death to Israel“ and „Nuclear Energy Is Our Indisputable Right.“
