  9. FrontPageMagazine.com  The New Kill-Israel Axis   By P. David Hornik
Iran wants to hang the Jewish state—and Germany and Austria are selling it the rope.
Earlier this month when Austrian foreign minister Ursula Plassnik visited Israel, Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and foreign minister Tzipi Livni tried to convince her of the importance of strong sanctions against Teheran. There’s no evidence they had any success; Austrian-Iranian ties appear to be too lucrative for such persuasion to work.
In April 2007 the Austrian oil company OMV signed a major deal with Iran for a joint natural gas project. As Simone Dinah Hartmann of STOPTHEBOMB noted Monday in an informative op-ed,
The total investment amounts to 22 billion euros over the next 25 years. Experts believe that these revenues will be used to finance the Iranian nuclear weapons program and undermine present international sanctions.
    [[AD]]
Austria’s Social Democratic chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer has said his government will not interfere in business transactions. But this is at best a bad joke: the state of Austria holds 31.5% of OMV’s shares. The company’s CEO, Wolfgang Ruttensdorfer, is a former official of the Social Democratic party, which has always been tight with OMV.

  10. RIA Novosti – Iran sieht hinter EU-Kritik an Aussagen gegen Israel zionistische Lobby
TEHERAN, 27. Februar .

  11. Haaretz  –  Japanese PM to Haaretz: World response to Iran nukes must be resolute
    By Akiva Eldar,
Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, responding in writing to questions from Haaretz Wednesday ahead of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s visit to Tokyo, kept to the Japanese tradition of understatement and elegant stepping over pitfalls.
Nevertheless, Fukuda did not hide his displeasure with the slow rate of implementation of the road map, including the evacuation of outposts and the extent of Israel’s cooperation with the Palestinian Authority donor states, including Japan, in rehabilitating the economy in the territories.
Japan’s relationship with Iran, planted by springs of oil, does not soften Fukuda’s stance with regard to Tehran’s nuclear plans.

  24. MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG Ahmadinejad: Islamic Revolution, Iran – Divine Gifts To All Mankind
At a meeting with representatives from Iran’s Assembly of Experts, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic Revolution and Iran were divine gifts to all mankind and the greatest events of contemporary history: “Building a model society and introducing Islamic Revolution are our nation’s missions…The Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran are both great divine gifts, awarded not only to the Iranian nation, but to all mankind…. [and] the greatest events of contemporary history, since they marked the continuation of the path laid before the mankind by divine Prophets, next to the appointment of Prophet Muhammad as messenger of Allah and the martyrdom of the Prophet’s grandson Imam Hussain…. Like those great events, the Islamic Revolution, too, was a long leap towards mankind’s reaching the peak of perfection… The Iranian nation, the practicing ulema, and the followers of the idea of leadership of the blessed (Wilayah) are shouldering the responsibility of keeping on hoisting the flag of a movement whose nature is the same as the revolutions of divine Prophets.
He went on to say it was Iran’s responsibility to build the nation so that its revolutionary message is heard, making it possible to lead mankind towards the peak of perfection, and helping the world convert to Islam: “The Iranian nation also has two heavy responsibilities, one of which is constructing Iran, so the message of revolution will be heard and welcomed when it is accompanied by practical models… [in order to] lead mankind towards the peak of perfection, and assist the world nations in embracing eternal salvation in the Hereafter, by convincing them that Islam is capable of presenting an ideal model for social life…
“Our culture and our administrative structure must be reshaped rapidly so that their basis would be the divine laws of Islam so that we would be able to claim that we have reached the status of a model society that can be the witness for all of mankind… “By the grace of God such a movement began with the victory of the Islamic Revolution, despite the entire heavy obstacles and hindrances on its way, which have been removed one after the other, and the movement of the Islamic Revolution aimed at constructing a model society has kept on accelerating ever since then…
“Our nation’s second important mission is introducing the Islamic Revolution to the entire mankind. Today the mankind has reached a point of dissatisfaction with the status quo of the social life and is so desperately in pursuit of better lives that the nations’ minds are quite ripe for grasping such truths…” “Based on such presuppositions, the only perfect school of thought that can lead the human society towards blessed life in this world and salvation in the other world is Mohammedan Islam… “We need to elaborate the divine rules of this school of thought and present to the world nations a model of social life based on it, while atop those who shoulder this responsibility are ulema who gain the divine thoughts from the origin of divine revelations, or from the Prophet and the Infallible Imams.”
