    STOP THE BOMB
    <
http://www.iran-daily.com/1387/3117/html/national.htm>Iran Daily erneut erhoben.

  5. Telegraph John Bolton: US should bomb Iranian camps – Damien McElroy
John Bolton, America’s ex-ambassador to the United Nations, has called for US air strikes on Iranian camps where insurgents are trained for war in Iraq.

    John Bolton
AP John Bolton was an influential member of President Bush’s inner circle
Mr Bolton said that striking Iran would represent a major step towards victory in Iraq. While he acknowledged that the risk of a hostile Iranian response harming American’s overseas interests existed, he said the damage inflicted by Tehran would be „far higher“ if Washington took no action.
„This is a case where the use of military force against a training camp to show the Iranians we’re not going to tolerate this is really the most prudent thing to do,“ he said. „Then the ball would be in Iran’s court to draw the appropriate lesson to stop harming our troops.“
Mr Bolton, an influential former member of President George W Bush’s inner circle, dismissed as „dead wrong“ reported British intelligence conclusions that the US military had overstated the support that Iran was providing to Iraqi fighters.

  7. arabamaricannews Shirin Ebadi on Iran and the world – By Robert Dreyfuss
While Bush administration’s actions and threats of „regime change“ increase the repression by the Iranian state, and economic sanctions only hurt the people, Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi says there are ways the outside world can support reform in Iran.
At least 400 dissidents, activists and intellectuals — a number far larger than previously reported — were murdered in Iran during a wave of officially sanctioned, government death-squad activity that ended in 1999, according to Shirin Ebadi, the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights lawyer, currently on a speaking tour in the United States. But Ebadi insists that U.S. threats against Iran and rhetoric about regime change could make things worse, giving Iran’s leaders an excuse to intensify repression.
In an interview with The Nation magazine, Ebadi said that she has documentation for one-third of those killings, and that information about the rest comes from the personal testimony of a man who admitted his role in the November 1998 murders of Darioush and Parvaneh Forouhar, who were hacked to pieces in their Tehran home. The Forouhars, critics of the Iranian regime, were part of the coalition that supported Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, the nationalist leader who was toppled by a CIA-backed coup d’état in 1953.

  9. REUTERS – Iran visa issue defused, smoothing atom pact talks – Mark Heinrich
GENEVA, May 6 (Reuters) – Talks on how to save the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) were kept alive on Tuesday after Iran received assurances on U.S. visas for taking part in follow-up meetings in New York in 2009 and 2010.
Iran has been fighting Western allegations of secret atom bomb designs said to menace the NPT and there was fear it might hold up proceedings on remedies for the treaty in protest at uncertainty over access to future sessions in the United States.
The issue was resolved after back-room consultations involving a developing nation bloc, including Iran, and U.S. diplomats. The deal was announced to delegates by Ambassador Volodymyr Yelchenko of Ukraine, chairman of the two-week Geneva meeting which ends on Friday.
Iranian Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh told Reuters:
„It wasn’t perfect. But we opted to go along with this guarantee on the record, which reflected legitimate concerns of non-aligned countries, not just us but Cuba and Venezuela and others.“

  10. roozonline Khamenei Defends Ahmadinejad, Again ‎- ‎“Inflation Prevalent All Over the World“
    ahmadikhanmeb.jpg
While many of the country’s officials blame the Ahmadinejad Administration’s „weak ‎management“ for current „economic problems,“ Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme leader ‎of the Islamic Republic, defended Ahmadinejad in a speech in Shiraz, claiming that ‎inflation is „prevalent all over the world“ and dismissing economic problems as ‎‎“enemy’s“ exaggeration. ‎
According to the text of this speech, which was published by IRNA, Fars, and ISNA ‎news agencies, the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader downplayed the nation’s economic ‎woes: „The enemy is waiting to use any problem to break the will of the Iranian nation. ‎Even natural disasters, even earthquakes, droughts or other things like high prices, which ‎are prevalent all over the world, are being used as tools to pressure the Iranian nation and ‎officials, and people must be clever about this. Last year too the enemy was trying to ‎disrupt the country’s economy and exaggerate the problems. The main way to combat ‎present economic problems is to have financial discipline, conserve, and refrain from ‎indulgence.“ ‎

  11. EJC The Jerusalem Post: German ‚business as usual‘ with Iran – Benjamin Weinthal
Critics of Germany’s pro-business policy toward Iran flocked to a conference in Berlin that for the first time brought together Germans, Iranians-in-exile and Israelis for two days of panel discussions that concluded late Saturday.
The strong trade relations between Iran and Germany are a source of great concern for the speakers, who argued that Germany’s overly cordial political and economic relations with Teheran are endangering the security of Israel and stability in the Middle East.
The nonprofit Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin organized the conference. Dr. Matthias Küntzel, a German political scientist who specializes in German-Iranian relations, revealed that a controversial meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari and his German counterpart, Reinhard Silberberg, took place in April.
Küntzel cited a report in the Tehran Times from April 19 in which „Silberberg noted that the two countries enjoy good relations and called for continuation of dialogue between Iranian and German officials.“

  13. MEMRI BLOGNew Iranian Surface-To-Surface Missile Found In Basra
Iraqi Defense Minister Abd Al-Qadir Al-Ubaydi said May 4 that Iraqi army searches in Basra turned up a new surface-to-surface missile.
Reliable Iraqi intelligence sources said that the missile was an Iranian Falaq 1, made in 2007, and that this was the first missile with such great destruction potential to be found in Iraq.
The sources said that if many such missiles had been brought into Iraq, „we are on the brink of a security catastrophe, both Iraqi and regional.“
Hinting that the missile could have been sent from Iran together with a launch crew, the sources added that the launching of such missiles required great technical knowhow, and that at this point the militias were not likely to have such knowhow.
The sources also noted that Hizbullah used similar Iranian missiles in the July 2006 war against Israel.

An op-ed in the Iranian daily Jomhouri-e Eslami stated that the day Israel was established is „one of the blackest days in the modern era“ on which one of the most catastrophic and anti-humanity imperialist plans was actualized.
According to the article, French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s and U.S. President George W. Bush’s participation in the 60th anniversary celebrations of the „artificial regime“ is no wonder, since the two are „the enemies of Islam who are collaborating in the crimes of Zionism.“

Khatami added that Ahmadinejad’s policy constitutes „betrayal of the Islamic Revolution and of Islam.“
The Iranian daily Kayhan, which is close to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, called Khatami’s statements „anti-nationalist, and supportive of the baseless American accusations.“

The paper said that the agreement would make Iraq a U.S. satellite, would negate the Iraqi people’s right of self-determination, would allow the U.S. to use Iraqi land, air, and maritime space to attack countries in the region, and would lead to a continued U.S. presence in Iraq with no time limit.
