Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is due to address the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23. The following is an exclusive Press TV interview with the president on his message for the world. He also sheds light on several controversial issues.

…Press TV: Alright, you just mentioned Israel and you called it the Zionist regime. A lot of controversy surrounds this issue. On the eve of your trip, the Jewish lobby is at work protesting, but behind the scenes stronger hands are at work to lobby each and every important politician in New York for both sanctions and a possible military attack against Iran. I want to know about this issue and the controversy of Israel being wiped off the map. A lot of controversy is surrounding thatâ€¦ was it a mistranslation, not a mistranslation? Mike Wallace had this interview with you a couple of years back. One part of it, a major part of it, was edited out. Your idea on the destruction of the state of Israel and Israel should be wiped off the map? The part you talked about democracy and referendum?
Ahmadinejad: We said we do not accept this regime and the solution that we are presenting is a humanitarian solution. It is a very clear solution. We are saying that the Palestinians should decide their destiny themselves; they should choose their own political system. What we are saying is very clear. We believe that the people whose ancestors have lived in that land and own the land although they have been deported and expelled and are under occupation, we are saying that they are the onesâ€¦.
Press TV: So you did not threaten to wipe Israel off the map as an Iranian leader? That we will wipe Israel off the map?
Ahmadinejad: No. We say that the people of Palestine should have rights and when the people of Palestine exercise this right, this will happen. Where is the Soviet Union? The Soviet Union has been wiped off the map. What happened to the Soviet Union? The decision of the people, the vote of the people. When the people of the Soviet Union, the Russian people, were allowed to decide to take charge of their destiny, the Soviet Union disappeared.
The Zionist regime is an artificial regimeâ€¦ a fictitious regime. You brought people from different parts of the world and you have built this state. No, that cannot last, it is not sustainable. If they do not listen to our solution, this will happen one day.

  *         Die Äußerungen Ahmadinejads stehen im eklatanten Widerspruch zu dem Artikel der Konvention über die Verhütung und Bestrafung des Völkermordes von 1948, welcher den direkten und öffentlichen Aufruf zum Völkermord für strafbar erklärt. Dies ist die Ansicht einer Vereinigung von Rechtsexperten, Juristen und Forschern, geleitet von Irwin Cotler, Mitglied des kanadischen Parlaments und ehemaliger Justizminister und Generalstaatsanwalt Kanadas. Cotler hat bereits ruandische Staatsangehörige wegen der Anstiftung zum Völkermord vor kanadischen Gerichten strafrechtlich belangt.
  *         Die Konferenz präsentiert eine neue Studie Cotlers, welche das Prinzip der „Responsibility to Protect“ (Verantwortung zum Schutz) betont, und welcher alle Unterzeichner der Völkermordskonvention verpflichtet sind zu folgen. Im Juni 2007 hatte das US-Repräsentantenhaus mit überwältigender Mehrheit (411:2) entschieden, dass die Sprache Ahmadinejads tatsächlich die Völkermordskonvention verletzt. Eine ähnliche Resolution wurde im letzten Jahr auch von 70 Mitgliedern des britischen Unterhauses unterzeichnet.
  *         Sowohl der australischen Premierminister Kevin Rudd wie auch der kanadische Premier Stephen Harper haben die Sprache Ahmadinejads als genozidal bezeichnet. Dennoch hat sich bis jetzt kein Staat bereit gefunden, rechtliche Schritte gegen Ahmadinejads „direkten und öffentlichen Aufruf zum Völkermord“ einzuleiten.
  *         Die Initiative Cotlers wird mitgetragen von Salih Mahmoud Osman, anerkannter Menschenrechtsaktivist für Darfur und Mitglied des sudanesischen Parlaments, sowie Esther Mujawayo, Überlebende des Genozids in Ruanda, welche in der Strafverfolgung als Sachverständige auftrat. Beide werden auf der Konferenz zu Wort kommen.

The „past, present and future of the German-Israeli security relationship“ was the subject of a panel discussion at the State of Thuringia’s representative office in the heart of Berlin’s government district on Thursday evening.
The stark shadow of the past could be felt at the office, situated across from Hitler’s bunker and not far from Germany’s Holocaust memorial.
Yet Reinhold Robbe, military commissioner of the German parliament, omitted mention of Iran and its nuclear weapons program in his two-and-a-half page greeting. Instead, he highlighted the delivery of trees to Israel following the destruction of 750,000 trees during the Second Lebanon War.

Die wirtschaftliche Lage des Iran macht das Land anfällig für Sanktionen. Während sich die politische Führung darauf konzentriert, der internationalen Gemeinschaft die Stirn zu bieten, weicht sie der inneren Situation aus. Dabei wird die Mehrheit der Bevölkerung weitaus mehr von der wirtschaftlichen Notlage umgetrieben als von der Frage, ob und wann die Islamische Republik in den Besitz von Atomwaffen gelangt.
Der Außenhandel des Iran schrumpft weiter; die ausländischen Investoren flüchten das Land; die Inflation galoppiert; die Arbeitslosigkeit greift um sich; die Preise schnellen in die Höhe und reißen ein Loch in die Taschen der 70 Millionen Bürger.
Laut Angaben der iranischen Zentralbank hat die Inflation im August eine Rate von 27.6% erreicht, inoffizielle Schätzungen gehen jedoch davon aus, dass sie mehr als 30% beträgt. Wenn die Preise für Grundnahrungsmittel wie Fleisch, Reis, Milch und Brot nicht noch immer subventioniert werden würden, hätten sie sich bereits verdoppelt.
Eine vierköpfige Familie, die den Mindestlohn von etwa 215 $ im Monat verdient, muss beinahe 80% der Einnahmen für Nahrungsmittel ausgeben. Der iranischen Zeitung Etemad zufolge haben sich die Nahrungsmittelausgaben einer solchen Familie im vergangenen Jahr von 90 auf 188 $ pro Monat verdoppelt.
Die Mehrheit der Iraner ist zwischen 15 und 30 Jahre alt. Viele tun sich schwer damit, Arbeit zu finden. Die Regierung beziffert die Arbeitslosigkeit mit 15%, die wirkliche Rate ist Schätzungen zufolge freilich doppelt so hoch. Mitunter scheint es, als ob die Jugendlichen im Iran mit einem Gefühl der Verzweiflung leben und sich mit der Lage ihres Landes abfinden. Andererseits wird jedoch möglicherweise eine weitere Verschärfung der wirtschaftlichen Not sie dazu anspornen, auf eine Veränderung der Lage hinzuwirken, um ihre Zukunft abzusichern.
Wie es scheint, liegt die Fähigkeit, wirtschaftlichen Druck auf den Iran auszuüben – und damit vielleicht seine politische Lage zu verändern -, derzeit in den Händen der europäischen Staaten. Diese rufen Teheran einerseits dazu auf, einen Dialog mit der internationalen Gemeinschaft über sein Atomprogramm zu führen, während sie andererseits bis zum Hals in wirtschaftlichen Interessen im Iran stecken und jenen keine signifikanten Beschränkungen auferlegen, die Geschäfte mit dem Iran betreiben. JTA – Khameini: no friendship with Israeli people
Extending friendship to Israel’s people was „wrong,“ but the controversy over the matter should end, Iran’s supreme leader said.
In an address to worshippers on Friday, Ayatollah Ali Khameini referred to a controversy sparked by Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, the Iranian vice president, who recently said Iran extends friendship to all people, including those in Israel. The remarks did not imply recognition of Israel but nonetheless led to calls for Mashaie’s censure in the Iranian parliament.
An individual „makes comments about those people who live in Israel; of course, this is a wrong remark,“ Khameini said, according to a Reuters report. „The issue should be finished.“
In his remarks Friday, Khameini also appeared to back the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is up for reelection in June. Khameini is the ultimate center of power in Iran’s theocracy.
Internal critics say Ahmadinejad’s policies, including accelerating Iran’s uranium enrichment, lambasting Israel and denying the Holocaust, have increased Iran’s isolation and worsened the economy.
In separate remarks, Ahmadinejad defended his vice president, saying he too did not reject friendship with Israelis – but emphasized that he saw Israel as illegitmate.
„We have no problem with people and nations,“ he said at a news conference Thursday, according to the New York Times. „Of course, we do not recognize a government or a nation for the Zionist regime.“
He elaborated: „We are opposed to the idea that the people who live there should be thrown into the sea or be burnt.“ In the same news conference, he once again called the Holocaust a „fake.“

Iran’s supreme leader said Friday it was illogical to say Iranians are friends with the Israeli people, seeking to end a controversy over Tehran’s stance toward the Jewish state – it’s biggest enemy in the
region.
The controversy was sparked in mid-July when Vice President Esfandiar Rahim Mashai said Iranians were friends of all people in the world – even Israelis.
That raised anger from some hard-line lawmakers who said Israelis were not friends and Mashai’s comments did not reflect government policy.

Barack Obama’s U.S. presidential campaign on Friday criticized Republican resistance to the Iran divestment provision authored by the Illinois senator, saying it would have been able to significantly set back the Islamic Republic’s nuclear weapons program, and blaming partisan politics for the bill’s failure.
„Once again, Senator McCain and his Republican allies put partisanship ahead of our national security and the security of our ally Israel,“ the Obama campaign said, after the bill was voted down by Senate Republicans on Friday. Some predicted the Republicans would scuttle the passage of the bill, in order to prevent Obama from achieving a prominent legislative victory while he and McCain are locked in a close presidential race.
Senator Dick Durbin held a conference call interview later on Friday, saying „Senator Obama’s commitment to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is firm and I’m sorry his important legislation was stopped.“
Durbin added that the issue of Iran’s nuclear program „is not political. A republican senator was my co-sponsor for the bill and Senator Obama led bipartisan sponsorship.“

Der iranische Präsident Mahmoud Ahmadinedjad sagte am Sonntag vor seiner Abreise nach New York, er werde die nuklearen Aktivitäten seines Landes in der Vollversammlung der Vereinten Nationen offenlegen, wie die staatliche Agentur IRNA in Teheran berichtet.
Ahmadinedschad sagte laut Shanghai Daily gegenüber Reportern, er wünsche sich, dass die Vereinten Nationen endlich alle Nationen der Welt repräsentierten und nicht länger nur bestimmten Mächten, Lobbies oder Parteien dienten. „Alle UN-Organisationen sollten auf demokratischen Prinzipien aufbauend betrieben werden,“ sagte er und fügte hinzu, dass diese internationale Körperschaft „seinen Sitz in einem unabhängigen Land haben sollte, so dass es allen Parteien möglich sei, ihre Ansichten frei zu äußern.“

Israels Ministerpräsident Ehud Olmert hat gestern seinen Rücktritt eingereicht und damit den Weg für eine neue Regierung unter Aussenministerin Tzipi Livni frei gemacht. Staatspräsident Shimon Peres nahm das offizielle Demissionsschreiben Olmerts entgegen und begann noch am Sonntagabend mit den Konsultationen, die vom Gesetz vorgeschrieben sind, ehe er Livni mit der Regierungsbildung beauftragen kann.
Livni war am vergangenen Mittwoch zur Vorsitzenden von Olmerts Kadima-Partei gewählt worden. Ihren schärfsten Rivalen, den bisherigen Transportminister Shaul Mofaz, hatte sie dabei nur 431 Stimmen hinter sich gelassen. Olmert musste zurücktreten, weil er unter Korruptionsverdacht steht. Bis eine neue Regierung gebildet ist, bleibt Olmert im Amt.
Livni muss innerhalb von sechs Wochen eine neue Regierung bilden. Scheitert sie, müssen nach spätestens neunzig Tagen Neuwahlen durchgeführt werden. Livni sondierte am Wochenende bereits bei kleineren Parteien, die bisher nicht an der Regierung beteiligt waren. Die ultra-orthodoxe Shas-Partei hat bereits angekündigt, keiner Regierung beizutreten, die bereit sei, Jerusalem mit den Palästinensern zu teilen.

Reuters – Iran: UN mit Sanktionen im Atomstreit gescheitert
Teheran/Moskau – Irans Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinedschad hat die im Atomkonflikt gegen sein Land verhängten UN-Sanktionen als gescheitert bezeichnet.
Die Armee der Islamischen Republik werde jedem Angreifer die Hand brechen, bevor er den Abzug betätigen könne, sagte Ahmadinedschad am Sonntag bei einer Militärparade anlässlich des Beginns des Krieges mit dem Nachbarland Irak im Jahr 1980. Die Sanktionen mit dem Ziel eines Zusammenbruchs des Landes seien gescheitert.
Bei der jährlichen Parade in Teheran ließ Ahmadinedschad auch Wagen mit Schahab 3-Mittelstreckenraketen vorbeiziehen, die nach iranischen Angaben eine Reichweite von rund 1300 Kilometer haben. Damit können sie Ziele in Israel und US-Militärbasen in der Region erreichen.

Wie die staatliche iranische Nachrichtenagentur IRNA berichtete, wurde im islamischen „Parlament“ über das Strafgesetz, das 428 Artikel beinhaltet, abgestimmt: 196 Mitglieder stimmten mit ja, 7 mit nein und 2 Personen enthielten sich der Stimme.
Zwar sollen einzelne Formulierungen und Detailfragen in einer weiteren Runde diskutiert und womöglich verändert werden, aber die Maßnahmen gegen Andersdenkende und Andersgläubige werden kaum revidiert werden können. Darüber herrscht Einigkeit. Tatsächlich wird nach der endgültigen Verabschiedung des Gesetzes eine Änderung im Rahmen der Islamischen „Republik“ Iran nicht so bald möglich sein. Auf lange Zeit sollen dann Körperamputationen, Peitschenhiebe, Folter und Hinrichtung als vermeintlicher göttlicher Wille durchgesetzt werden.

Der erste Moment, der im Gedächtnis bleibt: Kurz vor der Landung in Teheran verschwinden die Haare der Frauen. Allenthalben werden Kopftücher aus Handtaschen genommen und umgebunden. Der Flughafen könnte überall in der Welt stehen: ein glitzerndes Terminal, viel Glas und Licht. „Sehr westlich“, denke ich, denn ich hatte – ganz stereotyp – etwas ‚Älteres‘, ‚Orientalischeres‘ erwartet. Eine lange Fahrt über breite, leere Autobahnen, dann sind wir plötzlich mitten im abendlichen Teheran.
Hier geht es immer bergauf. Die Millionenstadt zieht sich kilometerlang an den Hängen des Alborz-Gebirges empor, das Teheran vom Kaspischen Meer trennt. Wir schlafen im Deutschen Archäologischen Institut, einer eingezäunten Oase im Stil der siebziger Jahre auf dem Gelände der deutschen Botschaftsresidenz. Last Friday the Daily Telegraph reported Iran has surreptitiously removed a sufficient amount of uranium from its nuclear production facility in Isfahan to produce six nuclear bombs. Given Iran’s already acknowledged uranium enrichment capabilities, the Telegraph’s report indicates that Iran is now in the late stages of assembling nuclear bombs.
It would be a simple matter for Iran to assemble those bombs without anyone noticing. US spy satellites recently discovered what the US believes are covert nuclear facilities in Iran. The mullocracy has not disclosed these sites to the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is charged with inspecting Iran’s nuclear sites.

A Tehran parade by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), army, and Basij forces showcased Iran’s most up-to-date domestically manufactured military arms, naval weapons, and air force equipment, including the Shahab-3 missile.
The Shihab-3 has a range of 2,000 km.
The parade also displayed the 300-km-range Shahab-1, the 500-km-range Shahab-2, and the upgraded 2,000-km-range Gadr-1 ballistic missiles. The Naze’at-6 missile, the 280-km-range Zelzal-3 rocket launcher, and the Kashef Radar were also among the weaponry on show.
The parade was held next to mausoleum of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

In a September 20 meeting with reformist activists, Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, one of the clerics critical of the Iranian regime, said that the president who will emerge from the upcoming elections in the country must issue Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei an ultimatum, and tell him that he must not interfere in politics and that he must settle for overseeing the operation of the institutions of the elected officials, as required according to the „rule of the jurisprudent.“

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in New York early this morning, to attend the 63rd meeting of the U.N. General Assembly. He was welcomed by Iranian Ambassador to the U.N. Mohammad Khazaie.
In his first moments in New York this year, Ahmadinejad said that the world is facing many serious problems including poverty, wars in different parts, occupations and invasions, and that „these are topics which we must discuss and find a solution for.“
He will voice Iran’s stances regarding different spheres, he said, and hoped discussions with different countries‘ top officials would benefit humanity.
This is Ahmadinejad’s third successive year at the U.N. General Assembly.
Besides appearing on the U.N. platform, Iran’s president will also meet with his counterparts in New York, and has several regional meetings in his agenda.
Foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki has been in New York since September 18.

MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG – Iran Threatens Gulf Countries
The Iranian website Asr-e Iran stated that Iran has no confidence in the Arab countries in the Gulf, and that if they help the Americans by permitting them to use their land, airspace, or territorial waters, Iran will launch a missile attack on strategic targets in the Gulf countries, such as Dubai port.
The website went on to warn that the Gulf citizens were within range of Iran’s missiles, and concluded by saying that „the choice is in the Arabs‘ hands.“
Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Hassan Firouzabadi said that Iran’s missiles have a range of 2,000 km, while Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) ground force commander Mohammad Jafar Assadi said that Iran has today many more suicide bombers than it had in the Iran-Iraq war.
During a September 21 military parade by the IRGC, army, and Basij (see „Tehran Parade Of IRGC, Army, And Basij Forces Shows Latest Iranian Weaponry“), Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that if it were threatened, Iran would chop off the enemies‘ hands „before they could pull the trigger.“

MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG – Shi’ite Attorneys Sue To Have Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi Expelled From Qatar For Anti-Shi’a Incitement
Wahhabi hackers calling themselves the „XP Group“ hacked, on September 8, 285 Shi’ite websites in Iran and Iraq, including the website of leading Iraqi Shi’ite cleric Ayatollah Ali Sistani, and left messages condemning Shi’ite clerics and the Shi’a.
According to the Saudi Al-Arabiya TV network, the attack came in the wake of Sistani’s permissive fatwas on sexual issues.
The Iranian website Tabnak stated that the attack was part of anti-Shi’ite smears led by Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, an „extremist of Egyptian origin,“ and are aimed at preventing the spread of the Shi’a.
In response, hackers from the Iranian „Virtual Jihadists“ group hacked large Wahhabi websites.
A group of Shi’ite lawyers has filed a lawsuit against Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi in a Doha court following his attacks on the Shi’a. The attorneys called for him to be stripped of his Qatari citizenship and expelled from the country because his statements incite to civil war.

The Iranian opposition daily Etemad-e Mali stated that the economic statistics given by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are false, and that he is denigrating previous governments instead of dealing with the country’s economic problems.
The paper quoted international reports as saying that Iran is among the five countries in the world with the worst inflation.

At a large Tehran press conference with domestic and foreign reporters yesterday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Iran one of the main factors of peace, stability, and tranquility in the region.
Responding to a question on the formation of a regional alliance involving Iran and Russia, Ahmadinejad said that cooperation and alliance among regional countries is natural, and underlined that such countries should stand together because they have common interests, geography, and history and sometimes a common enemy.
He said that efforts should be made to prevent interference by foreigners in regional issues.
He commented that Iran should be made part of the U.N. Security Council as a non-permanent member.
He said that Iran does not recognize anything by the name of the Israeli government or nation. Quoting Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, he said that Iran’s stance on the issue of Palestine is a humane one, that Iran favors a free referendum in the country, and that the Palestinians should decide their own fate.
He also told the press conference that Zionists are not Jews but infidels. The Zionist regime is the main cause of all corruptions and crimes in the region, he said, calling it „fabricated and illegal“ and stating that it was created to threaten, pressure, and target nations in the region. He added that a very few Zionists have gained power in the world and act as if they have the final say, and others back their decisions…

Iranian Army ground forces commander Gen. Ahmad Pourdastan said today in an address prior to the Friday sermon in Kermanshah, he said, „We have designed our military doctrine based on movements of the enemy.“
He added, „Now NATO forces, led by the U.S., have surrounded our country from the north, south, east, and west, and we are closely monitoring their movements.“
He added that Iran is well aware of the forces‘ weaknesses and strength and so is well-prepared to defend its territory forcefully.
Meanwhile, Maj.-Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, senior security advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, says Iran is closely watching all moves by the U.S. and Israel, and stated that they are not now capable of initiating a huge war, adding that „if Americans make any strategic mistake, 200,000 of their forces will be put in serious danger in the region. Iranian armed forces are capable of having Hormuz Strait under their control.“
He added that the Iranian army and the IRGC have been planning the strategy of asymmetrical war.

The Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyassa has reported, citing British diplomatic sources, that some 450 Lebanese Shi’ite operatives, most of them from Hizbullah and Amal, have been trained by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and sent to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Bahrain.
According to the report, the operatives have established units in these countries which incorporate local residents, with the aim of harming foreign interests and vital facilities in the event of conflict between Iran and Israel or the U.S.

MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG – In Friday Sermon, Iranian Leader Khamenei Calls For Public Unity

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said in his sermon today that what Iran needs most under present conditions is unity among the people, elites, and officials.
He told worshippers at the Tehran University campus, „People should feel tranquil and politically and psychologically secure; the enemy, however, is trying to take the peace away by heightening tension and unfortunately, there are certain people inside the country ho add up to the tension unconsciously.“
He added, „Today, since certain world mongering people are in charge of global affairs, injustice is made in case of human beings; the world mongers too resort to conspiracy, war, false propaganda and dastardly policies and ploys to meet their goals.“
Khamenei specified that under current „misty and vague“ conditions – which he said were better called „conditions of conspiracy“ – that are provided by the „world mongers,“ some lose insight, and blind prejudice starts to grow, to the extent that some who are not world mongers might also follow the trend.
He also touched on the Iranian nation’s constant resistance and adherence to the principles of the Islamic Revolution, adding that the people were „men of science“ while they clung to these principles.
He pointed to the all-out presence of the Iranian nation in the 1980-88 Sacred Defense [Iran-Iraq war], as well as in the scenes of reconstruction and science in the post-war era, saying, „When pro-aliens set discord on their agenda, people called for unity, and when enemy espionage apparatus tried to stir riots in certain cities, those were people who were present in the front line of campaign (against the riots).“
He also mentioned, „When the enemy stepped up propaganda (against Iran) over the nuclear issue, people fairly showed the best possible type of reactions.
He also called on the people to take part massively in the International Qods Day rallies.

MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG – Iranian Regime Clamps Down On Human Rights, Ethnic Minorities Rights
In late August 2008, Iranian security forces arrested Iranian academic and human rights and international relations expert Mehdi Zakerian, as he was readying to leave the country to teach at the University of Pennsylvania in the U.S.
According to the Rajanews website, which is close to supporters of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the arrest was for security reasons.
Also, the online daily Rooz reported that in July 2008, the regime executed 12 people in the city of Deshtestan in the southern province of Bushehr, and that the prosecutor-general in Mashhad had declared that 500 prisoners in the city’s jail would be executed for drug trafficking.
It was also reported that Iranian security forces recently arrested, in Tehran and in central cities in the northwest of the country, 40 political activists of the Azeri minority. Azeri activists say that the arrests came in response to a public demand by the Azeris to teach their language in schools.
MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG – Senior Iranian Official: We Can Strike U.S. Interests Anywhere
Amir Moussavi, advisor to Iran’s defense minister, has threatened that in the event of a U.S. attack on Iran, Iran will attack U.S. interests in countries that helped the U.S. in its attack.
These countries, he said, were to include Gulf states.
Moussavi added that Iran held regional and global cards, and that it could strike at U.S. interests in the Middle East and worldwide.
