    1. Reuters – Iran orders Muslims to defend Palestinians in Gaza
      TEHRAN – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a religious decree to Muslims around the world on Sunday, ordering them to defend Palestinians against Israel’s attacks on Gaza, state television said.
      „All Palestinian combatants and all the Islamic world’s pious people are obliged to defend the defenceless women, children and people in Gaza in any way possible. Whoever is killed in this legitimate defence is considered a martyr,“ state television quoted Khamenei as saying in a statement.
      Israel launched air strikes on Gaza for a second day on Sunday and has killed more than 270 people in one of the bloodiest days in 60 years of conflict between the Palestinians and the Jewish state.

      Angesichts der israelischen Luftangriffe auf Ziele im Gazastreifen hat eine einflussreiche Gruppe konservativer iranischer Geistlicher am Montag mit der Registrierung von Freiwilligen zum Kampf gegen Israel begonnen. Dazu eröffnete die Gruppe Dschame-e-Ruhaniat-e-Mobares Interessenten auf ihrer Website drei Möglichkeiten der Unterstützung des Kampfes: auf militärische, finanzielle oder öffentlichkeitswirksame Art.
      Der Schritt erfolgte demnach als Reaktion auf ein religiöses Edikt des obersten iranischen Geistlichen, Ayatollah Ali Chamenei, vom Sonntag. Darin hatte Chamenei erklärt, jeder, der bei der Verteidigung von Palästinensern im Gazastreifen gegen israelische Angriffe getötet werde, gelte als Märtyrer.
      Der iranische Rote Halbmond schickte laut der amtlichen Nachrichtenagentur IRNA am Montag ein Schiff mit 2.000 Tonnen Nahrungsmitteln für die Menschen im Gazastreifen nach Ägypten.

      Zehntausende Iraner haben am Montag in Teheran gegen die israelischen Militärschläge im Gaza-Streifen protestiert. Bei der staatlich organisierten Demonstration in der iranischen Hauptstadt wurden israelische Flaggen in Brand gesetzt. Teilnehmer riefen „Tod Israel!“ und „Tod den USA“. Die arabische Welt und internationale Organisationen müssten ihr Schweigen brechen und einschreiten, um das Blutvergießen zu stoppen. Der oberste geistliche Führer Ayatollah Ali Khamenei hatte den Montag landesweit zum Trauertag erklärt.

      Iran’s President says it is necessary to make a complaint as soon as possible in international courts against the officials of the Israel regime.
      „The issue (of Israeli atrocities against the innocent people of Gaza) must be followed through Interpol by officially summoning those responsible for the attacks,“ Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday during a session of the Iranian Cabinet.
      Israel launched a series of deadly attacks on the Gaza Strip on Saturday killing at least 300 Palestinians and injuring nearly 800. The devastating attacks in the past two days have prompted worldwide condemnation demonstrations.

    Humanitarian aid for Gaza being put into containers in Iran
    The first Iranian shipment of aid for the Gaza Strip has arrived it Egypt amid a growing loss of human life in the besieged region.
    Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said Monday that Tehran humanitarian aid for Gaza onboard an airplane on Sunday.
    The plane carrying medicine and food landed in Cairo late Sunday, said the Iranian diplomat, adding that an additional plane will be sent to Egypt on Monday.
     

  4. MEMRI IRANIAN MEDIA BLOG Iranian Reactions to Gaza Events
    Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on the International War Crimes Court to file charges against the Israeli leaders, who are „war criminals and murderers,“ for their crimes in Gaza, and to send a warrant for their arrest via Interpol.
    It was decided that the Iranian Foreign Ministry will appeal to the International War Crimes Court on this matter, that Iranian legal experts will prepare the indictment, and that Iranian President Ahmadinejad will contact world leaders to discuss the issue.

    The Iranian website Raja News, affiliated with supporters of Ahmadinejad, called on the Muslim countries to take advantage of the fact that Israel is surrounded by Arab countries, which makes it possible to destroy it with ease.
    IRGC official Abdollah Eraghi stated that many members of the Basij have volunteered to liberate Jerusalem.
    The IRGC weekly Sobh-e Sadeq advised the Palestinians to carry out martyrdom operations, since they would be sore blows to Israel and the international community would receive them with understanding.
    In Iranian universities, volunteers registered to carry out suicide operations against Israel (271 students registered in Amir Kabir University in Tehran).

    Khamenei’s chief security advisor Yahya Rahim Safavi accused the Arab countries of complicity in „the Zionist-American conspiracy against the Palestinians in Gaza,“ calling to close the Israeli embassies in Muslim countries and to boycott Israeli and American products.
    Ali Saidi, Khamenei’s representative in the IRGC, accused Egypt and Saudi Arabia of collaborating with the Israeli plot, and the IRGC weekly Sobh-e Sadeq likewise accused Egypt of exploiting its position vis-à-vis the Palestinians in order to humiliate them and curry favor with Israel and the U.S.

    IRGC official Masoud Jazayeri said that the Arab countries were complicit in „the Israeli-American massacre“ in Gaza.
    He explained that the Arab countries‘ arms deals with America helped the American munitions companies but did not promote Arab security.
    He added that, because of their affiliation with America, the Arab countries were not taking advantage of the economic crisis to help their peoples.

    Majid Nasser, manager of the defense industry plant in Isfahan, said that eight workers were killed in a December 27, 2008 explosion at the plant’s ammunition production line, and damage was caused to the building.

    The head of Iran’s parliamentary national security committee, Alaeddin Boroujerdi stated that Israel’s present actions were like Hitler’s actions in Second World War, and that Israel would therefore share his fate.
    Iranian MP Ali Motahari called on the Muslim countries to declare war on Israel with the aim of destroying it.
    Ali Akbar Mohtashemi-Pour, secretary-general of the Iranian International Committee for the Support of the Palestinian Intifada, said that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak had been informed of the attack in advance by Israeli FM Tzipi Livni.
    He stressed that the Muslim nations were ready to perform acts of self-sacrifice for the sake of the Palestinians, but that their leaders, „agents of the Americans,“ prevented them from doing so.
    The Iranian Basij announced that it was willing to aid the Palestinians by forming the „Army of the Islamic World,“ and accused some Arab leaders of treason and of collaborating with Israel in the attack on Gaza.
    Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared Monday (December 29, 2008) a day of mourning over the events in Gaza.

    During his sermon today, Tehran Interim Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani called on the world’s Christians to react against human catastrophe taking place in the region.
    Delivering his second sermon, Ayatollah Kashani said, „Christianity is the school of security, justice, peace and calm; the birth message of the Jesus too is an effort to reach the peace and calm. Of course, Islam too is harbinger of justice and security.“
    Addressing the Christian world, Ayatollah Kashani questioned, „Why have you kept silence against so much human crimes committed by Zionists in Gaza? How will you be responsible before history for such atrocities? How will you wipe the stain off history?“
    He said that the Zionists‘ intervention in the destiny of the Christian states and their rule over countries is a „deplorable“ situation, especially for the U.S.
    He added that Christians should not think of themselves but of others too.

    Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has called on Arab states not to interfere in Iran’s nuclear issue.
    He told a group of congregational prayer leaders today that „Arab states are advised not to interfere in Iran’s nuclear case, thus harming their prestige.“
    He added that the Arabs should be careful not to enter the race by the failed U.S., and that countries cannot solve their problems in connection with Iran through such accusations as defense of terrorism.

    Wiam Wahhab, leader of the Tawhid stream in Lebanon, which is part of the Lebanese opposition, has called to topple the Saudi royal house, saying that otherwise „there will be no quiet in the region.“
    He also called to remove the places sacred to Islam from Saudi control, and to transfer them to an independent element that will represent all the schools of Islamic thought.
