US President Obama:
Iran Must Not be Allowed to Develop Nuclear Weapons
Today, President Barack Obama said „Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.“ [1] In a speech to students in Strasbourg, France during his first trip outside of the United States, the American President emphasized: „We cannot have a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.“ [2]
Obama announced that high on his agenda is working toward a world without nuclear weapons. In France to attend a NATO summit, Obama said the spread of nuclear weapons could lead to the extermination of any city on the planet. [3] „We can’t reduce the threat of a nuclear weapon going off unless those that possess the most nuclear weapons – the United States and Russia – take serious steps to reduce our stockpiles,“ Obama said. [4] Obama’s statements came two days after Obama and Russian President Dimitry Medvedev agreed to draw up a new deal on nuclear disarmament. [5] Furthermore, Obama is showing readiness for having better ties with Russia, despite their differences. [6]
