Danish lawmakers to mull ban on non-medical child circumcision: report – Head of Denmark’s Jewish Community cited as saying bill is ‚worst threat since World War II‘ | i24NEWS
Denmark’s parliament is set to consider a bill that would ban non-medical male circumcision for adolescents, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported Sunday.
If approved, the bill could work as an effective ban on the Jewish ritual of brit milah, which sees a baby boy circumcised eight days after his birth.
Filed last month by Simon Emil Ammitzboll-Bille, a lawmaker with the left-of-center Forward party, the bill will be considered by the Folketinget some time in the current session.
