Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his key rival within Likud party ranks, former education and interior minister Gideon Sa’ar faced off in the party leadership vote on Thursday.
Some 116,048 members of Likud began voting at 106 polling stations across the country from 9 am local time to set the stage for a showdown that makes for the most serious challenge to Netanyahu’s Likud leadership in years.

But at some point, every leader must recognize that the party (and country for that matter), are bigger than they are. Whereas for many years it was BiBi who brought the Likud to power, it is now also BiBi who is the one holding them (and the Right) from power.
Yes, he is also entitled to full presumption of innocence, but at same time, cannot devote his full attention to his duties as Prime Minister, while also fighting these very grave charges.
In Gideon Sa’ar, you have a proven and capable leader, who would do justice to the great Zionist movement and ideals established by Jabotinsky and Begin. He would also have significantly greater chance of putting together a right wing or unity government and avoiding a left wing catastrophe.
