On April 16, 2001 the Hamas terrorist organization launched its first rocket into Israel. In 2012, 1,632 rockets hits were identified in Israeli territory. During Operation Protective Edge (July 8 – Aug 25, 2014), 3,852 rockets hits were identified in Israel. Since the end of the operation, 11 rockets have landed in Israel.
