Drawing from over a decade of research conducted at Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv on the use of the energy in metal, Israeli start-up Phinergy has successfully demonstrated the utility of metal air technology to power automobiles. An electric vehicle powered by Phinergy’s aluminum air battery, which combines aluminum, ambient air and water, has covered over 300 kilometers of continuous driving. Last year, Phinergy consumed more than 20 megawatt hours of electricity using its proprietary metal air technology.
