A swastika was found in November at a public library branch in Brighton Beach, bringing fear of hate and racism with it. There has been a slew of anti-Semitic graffiti and other incidents all over Brooklyn over the last decade, but such acts of hate met universal public condemnation at all levels of society. Local elected officials issued public statements about the incident.
