Simone Hofmann: "Dear All, today we remember the heroes of Mila 18 - the heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. They knew they will die, but they wanted to die fighting with a weappon in their hands. Historically of course this was not the only Uprising of Jews, but the most remembered. And rightly so. Everyone was involved in the Uprising. We remember the children, children whoes childhood was stolen. We are grateful for the legacy those heroes left us. Jews were not just "taken" and killed,... they fought - even though they knew it is a fight they will not win. Even today we can learn a lot from the group of people around Mordechai Anielewicz. To fight even if we know the fight might not be won, but to stand strong and united. And this is what our brothers and sisters did - they stood strong and united. May their souls be blessed. We shall never forget.
April 19 1943 - the date when the heroes of the the Uprising decided to stand up and fight."
