SPME Deeply Mourns the Passing of Professor Diethard Pallaschke (1940-2020) | SPME
Scholars for Peace in the Middle East deeply mourns the passing of Prof. Pallaschke who passed away on July 8, 2020. Prof. Pallaschke was a founding member of the SPME German Chapter which he co-founded with Matthias Kuentzel, and served as its first President.
As an internationally renowned Mathematician, he held an honorary doctorate from the University of Zielona Gora, Poland, and held many personal and scholarly ties with Israel. Prof. Pallaschke was a fighter and never stopped supporting our work notwithstanding his illness.
We lost a courageous voice in the battle against antisemitism whose voice will sorely be missed.We are grateful to Stephanie Galla for writing up the obituary (below in German), and are joining her in collectively expressing our deepest condolences to his wife and daughter.

Es ist schwierig einen Nachruf auf jemanden zu schreiben, dem es unangenehm war, selbst im Vordergrund zu stehen. Diethard Pallaschkes hervorstechendste Eigenschaften waren seine Unbestechlichkeit und seine Bescheidenheit. Letztere vermochte aber seine herausragende Intelligenz und sein beeindruckendes analytisches Denkvermögen nicht zu verstecken.
