As a child, one of my role models was Helen Keller, because she was a champion of humanity. Although she lost her sight and hearing at a young age, through sheer determination, she became an author and a disability and political rights activist. One of her inspiring quotes, which has guided my work in human rights advocacy, was her belief that, “Education is the highest form of tolerance.” Given her own challenges, she understood that education could strengthen human compassion and understanding.
