‚Elie Wiesel was one of the great Jewish teachers and thinkers of the past 100 years,‘ says Ronald S. Lauder | WJC
BRUSSELS – The World Jewish Congress (WJC) laments the passing of author and 1986 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 87. World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder called Wiesel “a beacon of light” and said the Jewish world “owes him an enormous debt of gratitude.” Wiesel was honored by the World Jewish Congress in 2010, with the Guardian of Jerusalem Prize, and in 2013, with the World Jewish Congress’ highest honor, the Theodor Herzl Award.
