Israeli and Libyan foreign minsters meet, though countries lack ties – The Libyan Foreign Ministry had not commented on the meeting as of Sunday afternoon. | The Jerusalem Post
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met last week with Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush in Italy, in a historic first for the two nations that do not have formal diplomatic relations.
“The historic meeting with the foreign minister of Libya… is the first step in [building] the relationship between Israel and Libya,” Cohen said.
The face-to-face conversation, which took place last week but the details of which were published only on Sunday, is part of Israel’s effort to forge new diplomatic relations with countries.
