PA reneges on promise to change textbooks in 2021 | IMPACT-se
- Impact-se report: The Palestinian Authority did not revise its curriculum in 2021, despite promises made to international donors following review. The old textbooks are still being taught.
- The PA did produce new, parallel teaching materials for the current school year, which contain violent and hateful content.
- Analysis shows that these new teaching materials represent a worsening of hateful material compared to the original textbooks.
- EU committed in 2021 to “not let off until we see change happen and we get assurances that no questionable content in books are in use.”
- IMPACT-se presented its findings to the EU Commission, which had no knowledge of textbook status or of newly created material. It is presenting the report to policymakers in the EU and in the US.
