PM stand-alone ally signal in Israel trip | The Telegraph India
New Delhi. June 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will use a landmark visit to Israel loaded with symbolism to signal a shift from India’s traditional balance in West Asia by seeking to insulate future ties with that country from the region’s tensions, senior officials have indicated.
The visit by Modi to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa from July 4-6 will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Israel, and will represent the most public expression of a romance that has largely stayed hidden – by design – for 25 years.
