Today, November 19, 2016, is the 39th anniversary of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s historic Israel visit. The following article is a first-hand account of preparations for this visit. The author, MEMRI academic advisor Prof. Menahem Milson, who is Professor Emeritus of Arabic Literature at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was at the time Advisor on Arab Affairs to the Israeli military government in the West Bank, and was on leave of absence from the university.
