SWC: Air Berlin Flies Not to “Israel”, Nor to “Tel Aviv”, But to “Ben Gurion” | Simon Wiesenthal Center
Paris, 21 November 2016 – In a letter to Air Berlin CEO, Stefan Pichler, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre’s Director for International Relations, Dr. Shimon Samuels, noted that, “One of our members recently flew Air Berlin and captured a screenshot of your flight map.”
The letter described the map as “a mixture of countries and cities in German:
• Ireland, Finland, Latvia, Russia, Malta, Monaco, Portugal, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Kuwait…
• London, Kiev, Tblisi, Oslo, Thessaloniki, Tehran, Salzburg, Algiers, Antalya…
Air Berlin headquarters appear as Tegel Airport.”
The Centre pointed out that “only one destination is identified as neither the country – ‘Israel’, nor the city of – ‘Tel Aviv’, but as the airport ‘Ben Gurion’.”
