U.N. elects Qatar, Congo, Pakistan to top rights body, flouting U.S. warning | UN Watch

GENEVA, October 16, 2017 – Despite a recent pledge by a Dutch-led coalition of 47 nations, the U.N. today elected gross abusers—Qatar, Pakistan, DR Congo, Afghanistan and Angola—to the U.N.’s highest human rights body in a virtually uncontested race, flouting U.S. ambassador Nikki Haley’s June warning to stop electing “the world’s worst human rights offenders.”
