The diplomats said documents, many of them provided by the United States and authenticated by IAEA, suggested that Teheran never ended its nuclear weapons program in 2003 — as asserted by the U.S. intelligence community.

    Als vor zwei Jahren auf der Berlinale gleich sechs Filme aus dem Iran gezeigt wurden, protestierten im Exil lebende iranische Filmemacher gegen diese Entscheidung der Festivalleitung. In zwei offenen Briefen erklärten sie, die Filme dienten den »kulturellen Zwecken des islamischen Gottesstaates, sich auf der internationalen Bühne als moderat zu zeigen«. Der Regisseur Mansour Ghadarkhah kritisierte damals: »Den so genannten kulturellen Dialog kann man nicht als Ausrede vorschieben, denn ein faschistisches Regime wie das des Iran beherrscht auch diesen Bereich komplett. Dabei lässt es sogar einige ›Problemfilme‹ zu, um ein Alibi dafür zu haben, dass doch keine Zensur herrschen würde.«

    Alireza is an unassuming 20-something Iranian. He works as a producer for Iran’s state broadcaster. But he is no ordinary Islamic Republic civil servant.
    Alireza returned to Iran two years ago, after growing up in New York and studying at an elite Canadian university. His bilingual ability in English and Farsi, fluent Arabic, and good government connections will serve him well in the evolving Islamic Republic of the 21st century.
    He is, ultimately, a symbolic face of Iran’s diplomatic future. And if Iran’s growing regional clout compels Washington years from now to offer Tehran allied status, Alireza could quite possibly be part of the handshake that confirms the deal.
    Sitting in a plush traditional restaurant in Tehran’s upscale Vanak Square one rainy afternoon last month, Alireza, who preferred that his last name not be published, reflected on Iran’s regional rise.

    At a policy conference in Tehran, Hassan Rohani, who is close to Hashemi Rafsanjani, the main political rival of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, attacked Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s foreign policy, warning that it was isolating Iran internationally. Rohani said that Iran needed a foreign policy that strives for mutual understanding with the rest of the world, not boasting and blatant statements. According to the Entehab webste, which is identified with supporters of Rafsanjani, Rohani said that Ahmadinejad’s extremist anti-Israel statements are dragging Iran into conflict with the international community.

The website, feministschool.org, is run by activists from the „Million Signatures to Change Discriminatory Laws“ campaign. The website said in a statement the government’s move, which came shortly before International Women’s Day, March 8, is yet another step in limiting the essential scope of the activity of the women’s movement.

    Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini has called the EU’s protest against recent anti-Israel statements by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei „a source of surprise and sorrow.“ Hosseini said that the „biased and irresponsible“ statements were linked to activity by the international Zionist lobby, which is attempting to divert European public opinion from Iran’s peaceful nuclear activity which was proven to be peaceful by the recent IAEA report. Hosseini also harshly condemned several European countries‘ unilateral support for Israel, and called on the current EU president, Slovenia, to rectify this „irresponsible position vis-à-vis Iran.“

He added that „Iran had attained achievements within a few months, even though some thought that it would take 10 to 15 years to attain them.“
