The Iraq-born businessman and philanthropist, who previously chaired the communities and education division, is believed to have secured the declared support of more than 50 deputies as he bids to return as a vice-president.
He stepped down from the role ahead of the last election in May but the resignation of Mond over social media posts revealed by Jewish News has offered the chance of a quick comeback.
