BERNER ZEITUNG – Verwirrung um Aussagen von Präsident Ahmadinejad – Irans Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinejad ist offenbar bereit, seine kompromisslose Haltung im Nahostkonflikt zu überdenken.
Sollten die «palästinensischen Brüder» eine 2-Staaten-Lösung mit Israel anstreben, werde sich seine Regierung diesem Wunsch nicht entgegenstellen, sagte der iranische Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinejad in einem Interview mit dem US-Fernsehsender ABC. «Welche Entscheidung sie auch immer treffen, sie wäre für uns in Ordnung.» Der Iran werde den Palästinensern nichts vorschreiben, sondern jede ihrer Entscheidungen unterstützen.

Der iranische Botschafter in Berlin teilt mit:
1. In Düsseldorf soll es demnächst ein großes Treffen zur Förderung des deutsch-iranischen Handels geben, organisiert vom NUMOV (Nah- und Mittler Ost-Verein) mit Schröder im Vorstand.
2. Linde wird u.a. als Firma erwähnt, die große Infrastrukturprojekte im Iran betreibt.
FNA – Iranian-German Businessmen to Discuss Join Ventures
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and German industry managers will discuss ways to boost bilateral industrial ties in a business forum to take place in Dusseldorf in the near future, Iranian ambassador to Berlin announced.
Representatives of around 200 German companies and numerous Iranian industrial managers will discuss ways to further boost bilateral industrial ties, especially in the sphere of steel and automobile, Iran’s Ambassador to Berlin Ali Reza Sheikh Attar was quoted by the Islamic republic news agency as saying on Monday.
The Dusseldorf forum is organized by the influential German Near and Middle East Association (NUMOV) whose chairman is former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
Schroeder visited Iran in February and met with Iranian officials, including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad where he reiterated Berlin’s interest in expanding relations with Iran.
Sheikh Attar also underlined that studying joint investment opportunities, increasing bilateral trade volume and cooperating in area of common markets in places like Iraq, Latin America and Afghanistan will be on the forum’s agenda.
Despite western sanctions, German exports to Iran surged 10 percent to reach around four billion Euros last year as the two country’s trade flourished in 2008.
The expanding bilateral business ties between Tehran and Berlin come amid fierce political pressures by Germany’s powerful pro-Israeli lobby to force Berlin to cut its traditional trade links with Iran over the Iranian nuclear program.
Iran is under three rounds of UN Security Council sanctions for turning down West’s calls to give up the right of uranium enrichment, saying the demand is politically tainted and illogical.
Meantime, German companies have stepped up their criticism of the German government for backing UN financial sanctions against Iran, saying their business interests have been severely affected by this controversial political move.
Several German companies are involved in major Iranian infrastructure projects, specially in the petrochemical sector, like Linde, BASF, Lurgi, Krupp, Siemens, ZF Friedrichshafen, Mercedes, Volkswagen and MAN.
Some 50 German firms have their own branch offices in Iran and more than 12,000 firms have their own trade representatives in the country.
